Kevin Costner has gotten more than he bargained for.
The multi-talented star’s divorce proceedings continue to take turns, with the latest hurdle being an order to pay more than double the amount he proposed in child support to his ex-wife, Christine Baumgartner.
The former couple have been at loggerheads since Baumgartner allegedly surprised the “Yellowstone” actor with divorce papers nearly three months ago, citing the April 11 date of their separation.
Kevin Costner Has Been Ordered To Pay Over $100k To Christine Baumgartner In Monthly Child Support
When Baumgartner refused to leave Costner’s home after filing for divorce, the actor asked the court to enforce a clause in their prenuptial agreement that forced him to move out — and won.
However, that was the extent of the 68-year-old man’s victory in the proceedings, as a tentative ruling on Tuesday, July 11, approved his estranged wife’s request to receive a lump sum as monthly child support.
According to court documents reviewed by Fox News, Judge Thomas Anderle made a short-term mandate that the Golden Globe Award winner pay Baumgartner $129,755 monthly in child support. The “Let Him Go” actor is also expected to pay $100,000 in forensic costs and $200,000 in attorney fees.

Additionally, the former couple, who both filed for joint custody of their three children, must pay 50% of their health care, sports and extracurricular activities expenses. The document then highlights that these payments will be made on the “first day of each month” with “credit for amounts paid between July 1 and July 12.”
Baumgartner had originally requested $248,000 a month in child support or “alternatively, at the guideline rate of $217,300 per month, paid on the first day of each month.” The 49-year-old also asked his estranged partner to cover 100% of the children’s health care, sports, extracurricular activities and private school tuition expenses.
In his protest, Costner disputed that the German-American designer’s $248,000 child support request included more than $100,000 tied to Baumgartner’s cosmetic surgery fees. The paper also highlighted large sums spent on boutique shopping, large credit card bills, attorney fees and other costs unrelated to child support.
The Blast shared that the “Dances with Wolves” star has been handling the children’s expenses and has no intention of stopping despite the ongoing drama. He further asserted that the current monthly payment of $51,940 is reasonable for child support.
Meanwhile, the two-time Screen Actors Guild winner raked in more than $19.5 million last year, with his family spending $6.6 million for the same period, and an estimated family net worth of $7.5 million.

Last month, The Blast reported that Baumgatner’s divorce filing rocked Costner’s world because he planned to hit her with a newspaper first. An insider who claimed that the handbag designer had “blindsided” her with the move recalled:
“Kevin sat his family down, told them he and their mother were getting a divorce, and his lawyer was preparing the paperwork. He wants everything to be peaceful for the sake of his children and told Christine he doesn’t want a messy divorce because he’s already been through that.”
Her plan clearly failed as Cat Bag Couture’s creator wasted no time in “sneaking in” and presenting her “with her own set of divorce papers” less than 24 hours after the family talk. “Kevin was shocked,” the source said before claiming that Baumgartner had made “him look terrible and continued to do so.”
This exposition seems to be in line with what his old friend told the media about the actor being “shocked by Christine’s actions” in May. The close friend had stated at the time:
“Kevin was very surprised by Christine’s actions, he clearly did not want the divorce, and he would take her back. It was disappointing; he loves her and her children.”
The news of the split also came as a surprise because none of their loved ones were “aware of any issues” between Baumgartner and the “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” performer. Sources also maintain that Costner often spends time at home with his family after his day on set.
