Republican Rep. Kevin McCarthy was voted out of the House Speaker role in a move pushed by Rep. Matt Gaetz.
Rep. Patrick McHenry is currently serving as interim speaker because he is at the top of McCarthy’s secret list of successors.
The political knife will be drawn for Gaetz after he succeeds in firing the speaker of the House.
Gaetz, however, criticized McHenry for allegedly pushing the lower house until next Tuesday.
McCarthy did not respond when asked about Gaetz, the mastermind of his historic ouster, saying he knew “it was personal.”
