Faisal Khan was born in 1992 (age 31 years; in 2022) in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, India. He studied at Parmar Mission School in Bhatpar Rani, Deoria, Uttar Pradesh. When he passed the 8th standard exam, he became interested in joining the Indian Army. To achieve his dream, he appeared in the Sainik School entrance exam while studying in grade 9; however, he could not pass the exam. Later, he took the polytechnic entrance exam and did not get a good rank. He completed his high school studies in an English medium school and 12th standard studies in a Hindi medium school. While studying at school, he was a member of the NCC. In an interview, he revealed that on the day of his IIT entrance exam, he woke up late in the morning and missed the exam. Later, he took the exam for NDA and passed the written exam, but was disqualified in the medical examination round. He graduated in science and then pursued a Master of Science at Allahabad University in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. He also holds a Master of Arts degree in geography. In an interview, he revealed that while studying in college, his family’s economic situation was unstable and his father often asked him to study something or do a job. Later, he started doing welding work and learned to drive a JCB.

His three friends named Hemant, Sonu, and Pawan helped him get tuition. Hemant takes him to a coaching institute, where Khan Sir begins his career by teaching a group of 6 students. His skill and quality of teaching became very popular; the number of students in his class increased from 40, 50, and continued to teach more than 150 students. In an interview, he revealed that his popularity among students had increased to such an extent that the owner of the coaching institute feared that if he left the coaching institute they would also leave the institute. The owner of the institute told him not to reveal his true identity and continue to teach in disguise. Later, he became popular with the name ‘Mr Khan.’ He has a coaching center in Patna, Bihar, Khan GS Research Centre, where he teaches students aspiring for UPSC, BPSC, Indian railways, SSC, etc.

In 2019, he created his YouTube channel named ‘Khan GS Research Centre.’ He posts educational videos on his YouTube channel related to various subjects, especially current affairs. Soon, he became very popular on YouTube due to his unique teaching style and gained more than 19 million YouTube subscribers. In 2020, he launched his own educational app on the Google Play Store called ‘Khan Sir Official.’

FIR Against Khan Tuan
In 2022, protests were held across Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand for the cancellation of Railway Recruitment Board Non-Technical Popular Category (NTPC) exams. On 27 January 2022, an FIR was filed at the Patrakar Nagar police station in Patna against Khan Sir, five other teachers, and 16 students of his coaching institute for allegedly encouraging mobs to burn trains and destroy Indian railway property. . After the vandalism, several protesters were detained by the police. Later, when the police recorded their statements, some of the protesters revealed Khan Sir’s name. Reportedly, after Khan Sir realized that an FIR had been lodged against him and five other teachers at his coaching institute, he went underground. Khan Sir, SK Jha, Navin, Amarnath, Gagan Pratap, and Gopal Verma, all six teachers were booked under sections 147, 148, 151, 152, 186, 187, 188, 323, 332, 353, 504, 506, and 1 (B) IPC.
Controversial ‘Suresh-Abdul’ Video
In December 2022, his video sparked controversy in which he explained how the meaning of a verse can be changed when a Hindu name is replaced with a Muslim name. In the example, he explained that the meaning of the sentence is changed when the name ‘Suresh’ is used instead of ‘Abdul.’ He said,
There are some verses that have two meanings. For example, if you say Suresh is flying an airplane, then it will have one meaning. But if you say Abdul is flying a plane, then it will mean something different to people…”
Many Indian National Congress leaders including Surpiya Shrinate, voiced their opinion to Khan Sir. Supriya Shrinate responded to author Ashok Kumar Pandey’s tweet and demanded Khan Sir’s arrest.

A Call for Ethnic Cleansing in Kashmir
In 2023, Khan Sir sparked another controversy when he spoke about the ethnic cleansing of Kashmir. In the tutorial video, Khan Sir is teaching his students about how China captured Tibet in 1959. He goes on to say that after China occupied Tibet, it defeated Tibetans, separated their family members, and sent them to different parts of China, which led to they continue to focus on finding their family members instead of fighting for their independence. Later, he compared China-Tibet situation with Kashmir and said that Indian government should also send Kashmiris, who are throwing stones, to other parts of India and after that Kashmir will be completely peaceful.
