North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and his daughter wore matching outfits as they toured a missile production plant just days after he threatened to “destroy” the US and South Korea if provoked.
The burly dictator and his daughter, Kim Ju Ae – widely believed to be Kim’s successor, were both dressed in all black as they walked through a military facility, a photo released Thursday by North Korea’s state media shows.
Kim has called for ramping up production of multiple missile launch vehicles in the new year, claiming its importance for the Hermit Kingdom’s nuclear war prevention, according to state media.
At a meeting with officials of the country’s ruling party last week, Kim said North Korea would expand cooperation with “independent, anti-imperialist” countries as it prepares for war, state news agency KCNA reported.

The judgment also promised to “totally destroy” the US and rival South Korea if provoked – by using the Hermit Kingdom’s nuclear weapons, which it called its “precious sword.”
“If the enemy chooses a military confrontation, our military should strike a fatal blow to destroy them comprehensively by deploying all the most difficult means and potentials without hesitation,” Kim told the nation.
The threat comes after a year in which North Korea tested its largest ballistic missile and launched its first reconnaissance satellite as Pyongyang says war is inevitable.
Kim’s public appearance with his daughter also came after US officials announced that Russia had fired North Korean missiles at Ukraine in recent weeks in what White National Security Council spokesman John Kirby called “a significant and alarming escalation in [North Korea’s] support for Russia.

Ju Ae, who is thought to be around 10 years old, was in the spotlight in November 2022 during a nuclear-capable missile launch exercise. He is believed to be the second — and favorite — of Kim Jong Un’s three children.
Since then, Ju Ae has made several other public appearances — including sharing drinks, watching a missile parade and dining with senior military commanders.
The family raised its profile by placing its face on five new postage stamps issued by the government.
His sudden rise has led to speculation that the North Korean dictator is no longer dependent on his once-powerful sister, Kim Yo Jong.
