In a clip from the “On Purpose with Jay Shetty” podcast shared with People magazinethe 42-year-old star spoke candidly about her experiences raising her children, North, 9, Saint 7, Chicago, 5, and Psalm, 4. All of whom she shares with ex-husband Kanye West.
When asked about the difference between her parenting expectations before having children and her current reality, the mother of four shared, “Everybody says the days are long and the years are short, and that couldn’t be a truer statement.”
She added, “So when you’re in it, especially when they’re babies, and you’re breastfeeding… There’s a craziness going on. It’s like complete madness. It was chaos at best, though.
Describing a morning in her household, the SKIMS founder reveals a whirlwind of activity and demand. He explained, “You don’t know what’s going on. It’s like I always have to do one of my daughters’ hair — and it has to be perfect, and it has to be a certain way — and then this one needs me to put on her shoes, and they all need you… It’s like crazy, cooking , running around. Acknowledging the challenge, Kardashian shared, “It was the most challenging thing. There are nights when I find myself crying myself to sleep. Like, damn, this damn tornado in my house. Like, what just happened?”
He continued, “You know, with all the moods and personalities, and sometimes they fight, and there’s nobody there. it’s [just] I play a good cop and a bad cop.”
While she shared her desire to be more assertive as a parent, Kardashian couldn’t help but admit, “Parenting is hard.” However, he emphasized that patenting “is the most rewarding job in the whole world,” but it’s a job that defies any preparation or expectation. “Nothing can prepare you. … I don’t care how long you wait. Kardashian candidly described how one tantrum can change their lives, stating, “If a tantrum comes, oh my God, your life is completely turned upside down.
“But it teaches you more about yourself than I think anyone, any parent, could ever expect.”

Regarding her home environment, Kardashian emphasized that her children are protected from any dangerous or public incidents involving their father, West, stating, “In my house, my kids don’t know anything that’s going on. I’m sticking to my thread. I know I was very close to that not happening. But while it remains so, I will protect it to the ends of the Earth as long as I can.”
