Kim Kardashian’s hugely successful company SKIMS has been accused of violating its customers’ privacy.
According to court documents obtained by The Blast, a female customer filed a lawsuit against the company alleging the shapewear brand used “covertly deployed spyware” to access her devices and place “trap and trail” tracking software.

The California customer claims to be a “user privacy advocate working as a tester” and is suing SKIMS for allegedly secretly accessing his device after he visited the website in 2023.

In the filing, the woman accused the Kardashian company of monetizing its knowledge of its visitors’ activities, obtained through tracking software such as “pen register” and/or “trap and trace” spyware, commonly known as “PR/TT Spyware. “
“Defendant has embedded at least one PR/TT beacon on its website to capture electronic impulses originating from the site to identify the source of the communication, including the identity and geolocation of each website visitor,” the document states.
It continued, “PR/TT beacons on the Defendant’s website use various signaling mechanisms to trap and track its users; it monitors user activity (such as page views, searches or purchases), decodes the device used by each website visitor and helps identify each user’s location, race, age and ethnicity.”
The woman stated that she believes Kardashian’s company “generates at least eight percent of its revenue from her website,” which she claims has been aided by the invasion of her customers’ privacy.
He believes his case has support because “the privacy of personal information is and always has been a legally protected interest in many contexts.” As a result, the alleged invasion of privacy of SKIMS “caused economic injury and intangible injury,” he said.
The aggrieved customer likened SKIMS’ actions to those brought against Mark Zuckerberg’s Facebook in his Internet Tracking Litigation class action lawsuit.

The company has yet to respond to the lawsuit. It should be noted, that Kim Kardashian is not personally sued along with her company.
Kim Kardashian Credits Late Dad For Inspiring SKIMS
Back in November, the “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” alum opened up about how her late father Robert Kardashian Sr. paving the way for the billion dollar venture that is now SKIMS.
Kim, during an interview with GQ, revealed that her late father taught her everything she knows about the business world. He explained that his father’s desire to always “look cool” inspired him to go into fashion and eventually launch the famous SKIMS Men’s franchise.
He recalled, “He always wanted to look cool. Diesel was one of the brands we carried. They had cool jeans. They were waxed. My dad’s office was really close, so he always stopped by. He said, ‘I have to have them.’ I got it for him. He’ll wear it with just a black T-shirt and loafers.”
On how her late father helped her business acumen, the KKW Beauty founder recalls, “My father made me sign contracts for everything. When I got the car, I had to wash it once a week, make sure it had enough gas, and I didn’t throw it on the ground. It was a gift he gave me at 16, but I have a responsibility.”

Robert, a businessman and lawyer, gained widespread recognition when he served as counsel for his close friend, OJ Simpson, during his infamous murder trial in 1994.
Sadly, he was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in July 2003 and died on September 30, 2003, at the age of 59.
