King Charles has issued a brilliant promotion to Major Johnny Thompson – making him the king’s new right-hand man, according to a report.
Dubbed “Major Eye Candy” by social media users, Major Thompson once again caught the eye of the crowd at the King’s coronation in May, and it looks like we’ll be seeing a lot more of him from here on out.
“The King did a good trick by choosing a social media sensation to be his right-hand man,” a source told The Sun, adding that the “fantastic” aide will now be a “super equerry.”
Major Thompson, famous for appearing with the Royal Family in kilts, will now manage the King’s personal affairs.

Insiders told the outlet that Thompson, from the 5th Battalion of the Royal Regiment of Scotland, is set to leave the Army “in [the next] 18 months.”
The Post has contacted Buckingham Palace for comment.
The equerry is a British royal family official who helps members of the family, with Thompson looking after Charles since Queen Elizabeth’s death last year.

The hunky aide was once again at the king’s side on May 6, and social media users were quick to drool over his presence.
Before long, he was ranked third on Tatler’s Social Power Index, which details where “the real power lies in Britain.”
“It is from within the palace walls that the King’s equerry wields a unique brand of quiet and captivating power; but he was seen at important places, at coronations, or at the opening night of the Berntson Bhattacharjee Gallery in Fitzrovia, for example, where he wore a charming rabbit and India Rose James tie,” the index says.

Thompson – who has reportedly worked with Charles since 2020 – is responsible for the “planning and execution” of the monarch’s daily programme.
Equerries are selected from senior officers of the British Army.
The 40-year-old wowed the audience during the coronation service at Westminster Abbey, quickly dubbing him “Major Eye Candy.”

Thompson first went viral during the Queen’s funeral last year. He previously served as his equerry and was his most senior bodyguard for a period of time.
Unfortunately for fans, Thompson is off the market and has been married to his wife Caroline since 2010.
