Kodak Black Requests Dismissal Of His Drug Possession Case Based On New Evidence

Kodak Black and his attorney are hoping to save the US some taxpayer dollars as he moves to have his drug possession case dismissed!

The hip-hop sensation is as famous for making chart-topping hits as he is for his run-ins with the law. Last year, the “Lead Ain’t Eazy” singer was arrested on drug possession charges after authorities reportedly found oxycodone pills in his car.

The media personality was charged with one count of distribution of oxycodone and one count of possession of a controlled substance. More than a year after the case broke in July 2022, the media personality filed to have the entire legal drama thrown out.

Kodak Black Moves To Have Drug Possession Charges Tossed

The latest update from the “Roll in Peace” artist’s defense team claims his drug possession case has wasted valuable time. In a motion to dismiss the court case, the defendant’s attorney, Bradford Cohen, revealed the pills in his client’s possession were legal OTC drugs.

The attorney said the suspected oxycodone pills were common painkillers, according to new evidence. A sample of the drug found in Black’s possession was tested, with the results proving it was just Tylenol and not an illegal substance.

However, Cohen claimed that the drug being tested was destroyed in the process. Because evidence of the “Codeine Dreaming” rapper’s innocence was lost, officers allegedly failed to report the pills as over-the-counter pain relievers.

Motion to dismiss Black’s case, obtained by TMZ, painting the legal drama as a “coordinated takedown”. The defense attorney pointed the finger at law enforcement at the Broward Sheriff’s Office, accusing them of leading a witch hunt against his client.

Cohen named FBI Special Agent James Mitchell as the main culprit, claiming that he, along with the Broward Sheriff’s Office, covered up their wrongdoing. The legal practitioner insisted that FBI agents were biased against Black, a sentiment prosecutors shared by trying to withhold valuable evidence.

Prosecutors in Black’s case, according to his attorney, tried to hide the body cam video of a police officer who was surveilling the “Calling My Spirit” singer. In the footage, the law enforcement officer is allegedly “always ready” to strike as the camera focuses on his firearm.

Arrest

With these new allegations of “coordinated removal” and Tylenol pills, Cohen hopes his client’s case will soon be dismissed. As mentioned, the drama begins in July 2022, a few days before Black is scheduled to perform at the Rolling Loud Festival.

The Florida Highway Patrol released a press release on the incident, revealing that troopers had stopped the hip-hop star’s vehicle on its windshield. The entertainer’s purple Dodge Durango had tinted windows that “appeared to be darker than the legal limit.”

After stopping to respond to officers, Black’s vehicle raised suspicion due to the odor of marijuana. In response, troopers searched the “Super Germlin” rapper’s car and found 31 white tablets in a small clear bag and nearly $75,000 in cash. The tablets were eventually allegedly identified as oxycodone.

The drug found is mainly prescribed as a severe pain medication, and it is highly addictive. Further investigation revealed Black’s vehicle tags and driver’s license were expired, leading to the media personality’s booking at the Fort Lauderdale jail in Florida.

Before landing in his current legal troubles, the “Usain Boo” singer’s troubles took a scary turn in early 2022 after the rapper was shot outside a restaurant. The horrific incident happened months before Black was accused of drug possession after a Justin Bieber concert.

The former teen idol threw an after-party to commemorate her successful performance, but the celebration didn’t go as planned for Black. According to the LAPD statement, the shooting occurred following a fight between several individuals outside a restaurant.

At 2:45 a.m. local time, “multiple shots were fired,” and four individuals were injured during the fighting. Authorities did not share the victim’s identity, but sources confirmed the artist “Mopstick” was on the list. Two individuals were found at the scene and transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Instead, the remaining two victims found their way to the hospital, but overall, none of the injured suffered life-threatening injuries and are in stable medical condition. At the time of their statement, the LAPD had not arrested the suspected shooter but said he was a black man.

Two days after the incident, Black was spotted leaving Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. The hip-hop star used a pedestrian to get to his car, a black SUV, before he was helped inside by several people.
