In 2008, he made his acting debut with the Hindi biopic ‘Rang Rasiya’ based on the life story of famous Indian painter Raja Ravi Varma; he played the role of Bal Gangadhar Tilak in the film.

- Krishna Kotian started his acting career in his early 50s. In an interview, while talking about one never giving up on their dreams, he said,
I always wanted to act. More than two decades ago, I did some work as an actor but soon, I realized that I had to do something to run my kitchen. Acting is no ordinary job. You may be working on a project today and may not have work for the next few weeks. When you are young and have a lot of responsibilities, it is quite difficult to pursue your dreams. I had to choose between acting or a stable profession. I decided to take the job because I thought it was the right thing for me to do at the time. However, I keep up with what’s happening in the industry. In 2018, I decided to try acting. I guess it’s not too late to follow your passion.”
