Kumar Varun is an Indian comedian, actor, screenwriter and quizmaster, who created a YouTube channel called Random Chikibum in 2015 with Rahul Subramaniam. He is also famous for appearing in several comedy skits made by All India Bakchod (AIB).

Kumar Varun was born on Tuesday, 19 November 1986 (age 36 years; in 2022) in Arrah, Bihar, India. His zodiac sign is Scorpio.
Kumar Varun completed his schooling in 2003 at DAV Centenary Public School in Noida, Uttar Pradesh; from the stream of science; he chose the non-medical science stream in Class 10. In 2004, he enrolled at the Shanmugha Academy of Arts, Science, Technology and Research (SASTRA) in Tanjore, Tamil Nadu, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in engineering in Bioinformatics in 2008 .
He managed to obtain 9.6 CGPA in his engineering field. In an interview, Varun said that he chose the science stream and followed engineering because it was his grandfather’s wish. Speaking about it, he said,
I was brought up by my grandfather and I took the science stream and followed engineering because it was his wish. At that time the situation at home was such that I had to take a job as soon as possible and start earning money. You know that engineering guarantees you a good job in India. So that’s the motive.”
Kumar Varun appeared for the Common Entrance Test (CAT) and secured a percentage of 99.3. In 2011, he enrolled at the Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), University of Delhi, to pursue a master’s degree in business administration (MBA). He obtained his degree in 2013.

Kumar Varun got into a relationship in his first year of engineering. In an interview, he said there was a small group of North Indian students there, and he and his girlfriend were part of that group. He hails from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Speaking about it, he said,
We are in South India and naturally, we North Indians get together and form small groups. In the group, everyone pairs up and so I got into a relationship in my first year of engineering with a girl from Lucknow.”

After completing his Engineering, Kumar Varun started working as a systems engineer at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). He worked there from September 2008 to May 2011. While working with TCS, Kumar Varun worked as a strategic consultant with the Government of India to implement better software and technology to enhance the capabilities of core government functions. In April 2012, he joined Club Mahindra in Mumbai, where he worked as a GMC Summer Intern until June 2012. Kumar Varun worked in the Group Management Cadre (GMC) of Mahindra & Mahindra from April 2013 to June 2015. In June 2013, he joined Mahindra Holidays & Resorts India Limited as a marketing manager and worked there until June 2015. He joined The Development Bank of Singapore Limited (DBS Bank) in June 2015 and worked there as a senior manager in Group Marketing and Strategic Communications until June 2017.
Comedy and Acting
Kumar Varun’s career as a comedian started when he met Rahul Subramaniam while working with Mahindra & Mahindra. In an interview, Kumar said that he met Rahul after he hosted an event organized by a B-school in Mumbai. Talk about it, he said.
Rahul came to me in the office. He belongs to a different team and I’m from a different team. After I hosted an event and did some mimicry and comedy acts as a host for B-school, I became popular in the office. Rahul, who was on holiday on the day of the event, was told about me and he then approached me asking if I had ever done stand-up comedy.”
While Varun was working with DBS Bank, he was contacted by Rahul who convinced him to participate in the Only Much Louder Comedy Hunt with him. To enter the competition, Kumar and Rahul created their YouTube channel Randomly Chikibum in 2015, which has more than 708K subscribers as of January 2023. He also has a self-titled YouTube channel, which has more than 23k subscribers as of January 2023. In an interview, Kumar talked about his first video with Rahul and said that it was based on an interview between the boss and the candidate; however, the video was delayed because it was longer than the time allotted by Comedy Hunt. The two then published Kata Sky, their first video, on YouTube and submitted it to Comedy Hunt as their official entry. Kumar and Rahul later emerged as winners in the competition. While talking about it, he said,
We teamed up and started scripting our skit for the competition. The first script was based on an interview where I was the boss and Rahul was the candidate. It didn’t materialize because the script turned into a six-minute video, whereas Comedy Hunt asked for a 2- to 3-minute video. So we threw it away. Later, Rahul said he had a script in the call center and we went ahead and created Kata Sky, which also became the first video on our YouTube channel.”
Kumar and Rahul uploaded Random Daftar, a YouTube series, on Random Chikibum in 2016. In the series, Kumar Varun played the role of Madan Mathews. In 2016, he played the role of Atul Naak in Sumukhi Suresh’s YouTube series Behti Naak. In the same year, he appeared in the first season of the YouTube series titled Better Life Foundation where he played the role of Anirban. In 2016, Kumar Varun appeared in his first AIB comedy skit, AIB Quickie: Facebook Friends Unfriend Each Other For the First Time.
In 2017, he appeared as Failure Mehta in an AIB video titled Honest Engineering Campus Placements. He played the role of a professor named Kodoth in the first season of the 2017 Amazon Prime web series Laakhon Mein Ek. In December 2017, he played the role of Guruji in the video series Sumukhi Suresh Pushpavalli Season 1. Kumar Varun played a character named Pranav (Peda) in a 2018 YouTube short film titled Half Ticket 2.
She appeared in TLC India’s 2018 comedy show Queens vs Kings. In the same year, she worked with Zakir Khan in the first season of Chacha Vidhayak Hain Hamare, which aired on Amazon Prime. In the serial, she played the role of a character named Kranti “Samosa”.
