Kumud was born in Chakghat, Rewa, Madhya Pradesh. He completed his schooling from Rashtriya Military School in Belgaum, Karnataka. Later, he returned to Bhopal to complete his studies in History and Political Science.

Family, Caste & Wife

Kumud belongs to a Hindu family. His father was in the Indian Army, and he was also a theater artist. He used to encourage Kumud to join theater in Bhopal.

Kumud married Ayesha Raza on 9 February 2008. Ayesha is a Bollywood actress, and she has appeared in Bollywood films including Dhoom (2004), Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety (2018), and Bharat (2019). They had a son, and his name was Kabir or Kabbu.

Career

Kumud was encouraged by his father to join the theater as an actor. He joined the ‘Bharat Bhavan Cultural Centre’ in Bhopal. He acted in several plays there and worked with famous theater directors like Sachin Tiwari, John Martin, Alok Nandan, Bansi Kaul and many more. He got an opportunity to work with Prabhat Ganguly’s ‘The Little Ballet Theatre.’ In 1989, he also participated in the Indian festival in the USSR.

Later, in 1990, he joined the prestigious ‘National School of Drama’ in Delhi, and he got a diploma in acting from there. Famous theater actor and director ‘Satyadev Dubey’ was his teacher. Once, Satyadev called him to Mumbai to audition for ‘The Making of the Mahatma (1996)’ to be directed by Shyam Benegal. Kumud and Rajit Kapoor were selected as the two best candidates, but, in the end Rajit was selected.

He has been a part of the famous ‘Prithvi Theatre’ for more than 20 years.

In 1995, he appeared in the TV serial ‘Swabhimaan’ which aired on DD National.

She got her first break in the Bollywood film ‘Sardari Begum’ (1996). But, it didn’t help him to get a good film project. So, he continued to act in the theater only.
