Kyle Richards Reveals Mauricio Umansky ‘Did Not Have A Penny When I Married Him’

Kyle Richards has opened up about her husband Mauricio Umansky’s finances in their early days as a couple.

The reality television personality revealed that Umansky was penniless when they first started dating while discussing her marital problems in a recent interview.

Kyle Richards Doesn’t Plan To Stay With Mauricio Umansky Just For Real Estate

Richards leaves no stone unturned in the conversation about life during her — and shocking — split from Umansky. He delved deeper into the subject when he appeared on SiriusXM’s “Jeff Lewis Live” on Thursday.

The reality star revealed that while dealing with finances after a breakup can be challenging, it’s not her main concern. Starting the chat, “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star explained:

“We don’t have a prenup. My husband didn’t have a penny when I married him. My mother loaned us money when we first got married. There was one Christmas that we had no money for Christmas presents. My mother gave me money, and her grandparents helped us. We built it all together.”

Stressing that the money belonged to him and his estranged partner, Richards said, “It’s very clean. Everything is half, it doesn’t matter. That’s not an issue for me.” She then declared the likelihood that she and Umansky would keep their home because they “don’t fight” and are “not a toxic couple.” The socialite added:

“You will never see a fight in our house. We’ll just go our separate ways and maybe take care of the house.”

With all that said, Richards insists that financial considerations will not be a factor in her decision to remain married to Umansky, with whom she shares three children – Alexia, Portia, and Sophia.

“If we’re not going to be together, I’m going to divorce—one hundred percent. I’m not going to live like that because, psychologically, I have to move on. I’m not going to do that just for real estate,” shared the Central Union High School graduate.

Of the challenges of being with her husband of two decades, Richards admitted, “It’s been really hard,” before continuing:

“I feel like my whole identity is as a wife and a mother. That was really hard to wrap my head around. I love him very much. If it’s one of those situations where you’re like, ‘Oh, I can’t stand this guy,’ this would be really easy for me. It will be very easy. I can assure you I would not want to be in this position. I never want to be in this position. I think I know where I’m going to be until the day I die, so that’s a lot to process.”

The 53-year-old’s candidness comes two months after he addressed rumors suggesting he was fabricating stories about his failed marriage for reality show ratings. In a conversation with Alex Baskin in November 2023, he expressed his disbelief at the idea, stating:

“Who is the human being who would create a story like this for evaluation? No mistake, Alex. I love you and everyone with the show. But who would do that for a rating? Put their families through this.”

As reported by The Blast, Richards dismissed the notion as “one of the dumbest things” she’s heard in 13 years, insisting that she’s not going to pretend to be separated for attention, especially at the expense of her children.

Richards Hits Out on Media Narrative About Her Relationship With Morgan Wade

The “Little House on the Prairie” actress also criticized talk of a romantic relationship with Morgan Wade. Richards explained that despite being seen with the country singer on trips and vacations, the romance angle is a narrative spun by the media.

The Blast shared that she accused the media of slyly insinuating her and Wade out of the company of friends when they were seen together. In his words:

“He has a group of friends that I lean on; in the media, they only show Morgan. But he is part of a group of friends.”

After revealing that Wade was one of the four people he texted in the morning, Richards stated, “My first text of the day was four different people, but, you know, if I walk down the street, have lunch with them, they’re usually cut out of the photo. Usually, they cut out my friends except for Morgan.”
