District Attorney George Gascón announced that Tory Lanez was convicted of assault today in the shooting of former friend Megan Thee Stallion in 2020. The incident occurred in the Hollywood Hills after gathering at Kylie Jenner’s home.
The DA said he was amazed that Meg had kept her composure and had the strength and ability to tell the truth and survive the brutal two-week trial. “I want to start by highlighting Megan Pete’s bravery,” she said.
“You showed extraordinary courage and vulnerability with your testimony despite repeated and horrific attacks that you did not deserve,” Gascón said, referring to the ups and downs of the trial. Adding, “You faced unfair and despicable scrutiny that no woman should face and you have been an inspiration to others across LA County and the country.”

Gascón made sure to note that the “Sweetest Pie” rapper is an inspiration to women, who often find it difficult to come forward when attacked in any way. DA highlights his willingness to participate and the lasting impact of his influence.
“Women, especially black women, are afraid to report crimes like assault and sexual violence because they are too often not believed. This trial, for the second time this month, highlights the many ways our society must do better for women.”
The DA also thanked the jurors “for their time and thoughtful consideration.” He shouted “the trial team tirelessly pursues the truth. You spent hours away from your family during the holiday season preparing this case and seeking justice for Ms. Pete. Your sacrifice is greatly appreciated.”

Canadian-born rapper whose real name is Daystar Peterson was involved in an altercation with Meg in 2020 where he is now found guilty of shooting her in the leg/ankle after a night of partying.
Meg’s best friend at the time Kelsey Nicole was also in the car when the shots were fired and offered a confusing testimony that didn’t help either side. Tory finally got a guilty verdict after a messy two-week trial and he could now face deportation back to Canada.
Tory’s sentencing is scheduled for January 27 when he will find out how long he will have to spend in a cell.
