LaKisha Jones was born on January 13, 1980, at Hurley Medical Center in Flint, Michigan. He will be 43 years old in 2023. Nationally, he considers himself an American. His grandmother, Ruth Jefferson Morris, raised him. Jones, an only child, and a Baptist began singing at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church when he was five years old. Her five-year-old daughter inspired her to audition for Idol as a single mother. LaKisha moved to Houston, Texas, and stayed for six years. Before starting work at the church, he sang in a choir of 70 people. Jones later moved to Fort Meade, Maryland, in 2006, to be closer to his relatives and other family members.

Career
During her audition, LaKisha sang Aretha Franklin’s Think. She impressed the judges with her powerful vocals and skills. It was later revealed that she sang And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going during her audition on her elimination episode. He also sang Stevie Wonder’s Until You Come Back To Me at one of the Hollywood auditions. He received good response for his solo performance, I Will Always Love You. In late September 2007, it was revealed that Jones would be taking part as a church soloist in the Broadway musical The Color Purples on January 9, 2008.
In June 2008, LaKisha vocally coached the girls on MTV’s Legally Blonde: The Musical – The Search For Elle Woods. She then joined American Idol Extra and sang Just As I Am, a song from her upcoming album which will be released in May 2008. I’m so happy I’m on my own. On October 21, 2008, his first single was released. The album of the same name was released on May 19, 2009. He was accepted as a participant in the American music competition program The Winner Is.
