Two Las Vegas teenagers accused of killing a retired police officer in a hit-and-run last month will remain in custody until their next hearing – even though one of them bragged to police that he’ll be out of jail in a few days.
Jesus Ayala, 18, and Jzamir Keys, 16 — who are charged with manslaughter in the death of 64-year-old Andreas Probst — were arraigned in two separate court hearings Tuesday, Fox 5 Vegas reported.
Probst was riding his bicycle on August 14 when a car drove up behind him and hit him. Police identified Ayala, who was 17 at the time, as the driver of the car.
Following his arrest, Ayala reportedly told officers he would be out of jail in just 30 days with a “slap on the wrist,” according to the arrest report.
“You think this juvenile s–t is going to do some s–t? I will be out in 30 days. I’ll bet you,” an arrest report alleges Ayala said.

After being told he might be put in “adult prison” due to the severity of the crime, Ayala reportedly said, “It’s just ah, f—ing ah hit and run.” A slap on the wrist.”
The arrest report says the interaction was caught on a body-worn camera.
Video of the fatal crash allegedly recorded by Keys shows that the hit-and-run was intentional, police said.

During a Sept. 14 interview with a school resource officer, Keys allegedly told officers she knew she was being interviewed because she “killed the guy on the bike.” Keys later provided police with a video she took of the incident.
The teenager is suspected of using several stolen cars in several incidents before Probst’s murder.
Ayala faces additional charges including failure to stop at the scene of an accident involving death or personal injury, leaving the scene of an accident, possession of a stolen vehicle and possession of burglary tools.

The accused driver, Ayala, opted for the right to a speedy preliminary hearing, which was set for Oct. 10.
Keys, who took video of the incident, asked to extend her initial hearing date to November. His hearing has been set for Nov. 8.
Bail will be discussed at the next hearing for each suspect. However, Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson said he will request that bail be denied for both Ayala and Keys.
