Official death certificate obtained by TMZ confirmed that Hollywood star Lance Reddick had two heart diseases that killed him. The certificate states that the star of “The Wire” has ischemic heart disease and atherosclerotic coronary artery disease.
According to the American Heart Association, ischemic heart disease is when a person’s oxygen and blood flow is blocked or reduced in a certain place. The Mayo Clinic says arteriosclerosis is when blood vessels that carry nutrients and oxygen become stiff and thick, causing clots and blocking blood flow. This can lead to a stroke or heart attack.
Reddick’s death certificate also revealed that the actor’s body would be cremated. He was first found dead on March 17 by his wife, Stephanie, after he collapsed at their California home. The “White House Down” actor was 60 years old when he passed, and at the time, law enforcement reportedly claimed that he had died of “natural causes.”

However, representatives of Reddick’s wife have disputed the cause of death stated on the death certificate. Through a representative, Stephanie recently told New York Post that while Reddick was alive, no medical exam “indicated such a condition.”
The representative said, “Lance is the most physically fit person I have ever known. He works out daily in his home gym, including extensive cardio work, and the availability of gym facilities is a contractual requirement for his work outside the home. He eats as if a dietician is monitoring his every meal.”
Representatives explained that Reddick’s family insisted that the information from the death certificate was “inconsistent with his lifestyle.” They added, “On behalf of Stephanie Reddick, the death certificate information is unsupported and inconsistent with the facts known to the family.”

Reddick’s death comes as a surprise as it comes during a busy period for the “Angel Has Fallen” cast. He had been busy with a press tour for “John Wick: Chapter 4,” and even missed the film’s New York premiere, which was held a few days before he died.
During one of his last interviews on “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” Reddick talked about his “John Wick” co-stars, Keanu Reeves and Ian McShane, and called them “his family.” He said, “You see, with the three of us, it’s not just the family you’re born into, but the family you create and what a family we are.”
The late actor has appeared in various “John Wick” films over the past ten years, playing Charon. Charon is a hotel concierge and old friend of the main character, John Wick. The fourth film has its worldwide theatrical premiere on March 23.

At the “John Wick 4” premiere, Reeves and several co-stars honored Reddick’s memory by wearing blue ribbons on their outfits. The actors wore ribbons as they walked the red carpet, and Reeves also spoke about his late friend during the interview.
The “47 Ronin” star said, “She’s a beautiful person, a special artist [and] a noble and dignified person [with] so passionate about his craft. Working with him for over ten years and four films was very special for me. Unfortunately he is not here.”
Shortly after confirming Reddick’s death, Reeves and the film’s director, Chad Stahelski, released a joint statement to Deadline. It read that Reddick was “a consummate professional and a joy to work with. Our love and prayers are with his wife, Stephanie, children, family, and friends. We dedicate the film to his loving memory. We will miss him dearly.”
