Late-Night Hosts Celebrate Donald Trump Indictment… With Ice Cream!

On Thursday night, former US President Donald Trump was indicted by a Manhattan grand jury on more than thirty counts related to business fraud.

This is the first time in US history that a US president – current or former – has faced criminal charges. The indictment is under seal; however, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office has investigated his hush money payments to adult film sensation Stormy Daniels.

Donald Trump Claims Impeachment Is ‘Political Persecution’

On his Truth Social platform, the former POTUS was outraged by his claims. In several statements, as shared by CNN, Trump claimed that the allegations were “Political Persecution and Election Intervention at the highest level in history.”

“I believe this Witch-Hunt will attack Joe Biden in a big way,” Trump said. “The American people realize exactly what the Radical Left Democrats are doing here. Everyone can see it. So our Movement, and our Party – united and strong – will first defeat Alvin Bragg, and then we will defeat Joe Biden, and we will throw every last one of these Crooked Democrats out of office so we can MAKE AMERICA AGAIN! “

While some were shocked and appalled by the allegations, many late-night hosts took a moment to celebrate the occasion. “The Late Show” host Stephen Colbert also brought out ice cream to celebrate the event.

Colbert opened his show by saying he felt a little “extra American” while celebrating baseball’s opening day.

Even though it was still a chilly 40 degrees in New York, Colbert said that he still had good reason to celebrate and eat ice cream out of a baseball helmet because “three minutes, before I walked out on this stage here, the New York Times reported that the New York Jury voted to impeach former President Donald J. Trump.”

The news was met with loud cheers from the audience. Colbert then took an upside down baseball cap filled with ice cream and a large dollop of whipped cream and sprinkles. Before digging into it, he took a can of whipped cream and squirted it right into his mouth as the audience applauded.

“Right,” Colbert continued. “He’s right. We finally say Merry Christmas again.” Colbert admitted that he had no idea that this day would come before admitting, “I had no idea it was going to feel so good.”

Like Colbert, Kimmel admitted that he only learned about Donald Trump’s allegations about two minutes before walking on stage. During his opening monologue, which can be seen above, Kimmel made several jokes about the former President, such as saying that the “J” in Donald J. Trump now stands for “Jail.”

“He will be read his Miranda Rights. Wait until he finds out all along that he has the right to remain silent,” Kimmel quipped. Later, he proposed several new alternative reality series for Trump, including, “The Celebrity Apprehentice,” “Arrested Developer,” and “The Biggest Loser.”

“The Tonight Show” starring Jimmy Fallon also created one of the funniest parody videos of the night.

They aired a medley of Trump singing “I’m So Indicted,” which is a parody of the Pointer Sisters’ 1980s hit.

Unfortunately for host Seth Meyers, he just missed the mark. The “Late Night With Seth Meyers” tweeted, “We live in crazy times, don’t we?” along with a photo of Seth Meyers looking into the camera. “TFW They impeached Trump right after you taped your show,” the text read.
