Suzanne Somers reportedly died surrounded by her family, and now her husband Alan Hamel has revealed one last wish he made before saying goodbye to this world. The “Three’s Company” star died of a protracted battle with cancer and a dogged determination to stick to his unique treatment regimen for the rest of his life.
Suzanne Somers’ Last Few Days Are Adventurous
The actor died just one day after his 77th birthday, and Hamel is not giving up on his final days. The 87-year-old revealed they shared a “passionate and beautiful last kiss” and took a final road trip from Illinois to California.
The trip, which took them through Utah and Nevada, got Somers excited when Hamel shared that he loved seeing all of nature and added:
“Suzanne and I love seeing middle America and how real Americans live. We got a point on a TV show called 100 Rodeos, 100 Days because we love to see how these people go together to the rodeo — it’s family and cowboy hats and this is the real heart of America.”

Hamel revealed that he had a vision of his beautiful wife days after she died. Narrating the experience, the actor said, “I was alone in bed, half asleep, when I reached out for his hand, and I saw him looking at me. It felt like he was there.”
He recounts their unique and classic Hollywood love story, including how they first met in the 1960s and fell in love on a houseboat. Hamel recalled Somer wearing “an anklet with a bell on it; he suits her.” They both lived in the Sausalito community at the time.
Hamel told Daily Mail that Somers’ dying wish was that he continue to provide his women with organic products. He wants his customers to get the best. Despite the fond memories, Hamel doesn’t stop thinking about Somers for a day, and he shared that the first few days after her death were difficult for him. In his words:
‘Suzanne’s loss may not be a strong enough word; I don’t know what that word is. But for the past 55 years we haven’t spent an hour.”
The doting husband gave an insight into their close relationship and how they would ‘sleep holding hands,’ an act he described as very special to him.
Hamel is convinced that their souls are linked and share his belief in the afterlife because he has met “mediums before, and they have told me things they couldn’t possibly know.” The 87-year-old man is relieved that one day, he may be reunited with his beloved wife.

As he lay in bed in his final days, the actor presented his wife with a handwritten love poem wrapped in his favorite colors. The letter, which came just a day before her death, was read by the actress, who later died in her sleep. The poem reads:
“My daily life consists of things and people I love and things and people I’m indifferent to. I could go on ad infinitum, but you get the idea. What brand of love do I feel for my wife Suzanne? Can I find it anywhere in top? Nope !!!! There is no word version that can be used for Suzanne and I also use words that fit the advice.”
‘Step by Step’ Actor Rejects Chemotherapy Option
Despite the pain and struggle with breast cancer for decades, the actress never considered chemotherapy even after being suggested by her friends and family. Instead, Somers opted for a more holistic approach to her treatment, including alternative medicine and bioidentical hormones.
According to The Blast, the actress doesn’t regret her actions because she truly believes “she has lived beyond her wildest dreams and truly made a dent in the world.” Somers revealed the news of her breast cancer recurrence on July 31 in an emotional Instagram post when she announced her positive for the disease and said:
“I know how to wear combat gear and I am a fighter. Alan was always by my side every step of the way. I can’t explain how much he has done for me. If possible, we are closer than ever.
