Raid by the Income Tax Department
In 2019, officials from the Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGSTI) raided various business premises, including that of Tollywood actor Lavanya Tripathi, to investigate possible tax evasion. It was reported that the actress was accused of not paying the Goods and Services Tax (GST) required for a business deal worth Rs 20 lakh. The officers conducted a search at one of his rented houses located in Banjara Hills. While addressing the media, the GST officer said,
At the time of the raid, Lavanya was away from her residence. In front of his staff, the official confirmed the GST payment made by the actress on the purchase of several valuables. It is reported that he has evaded taxes worth `20 lakh, but the details are yet to be confirmed.”
