Famed image architect Law Roach is getting more candid about the side the media doesn’t see after he announced his retirement.

As you know, news of the stylist’s retirement has been making headlines for the past few weeks. While the media speculated that he had beef with Zendaya and that his retirement was not true, Roach was dealing with some emotions from quitting his career.

Less than three weeks after making the bold decision, the seasoned fashion icon opened up about how her retirement has affected her.

The “Legendary” judge admitted to having mixed emotions after announcing his retirement. Speaking to People Magazine, the 44-year-old opened up about his feelings as he enjoyed a “Release Your Rage” vacation in Los Angeles, celebrating Netflix’s “Beef.”

Stylist explained how she accepted her new reality: “I didn’t retire and think the next day would be perfect. So, I will go through a certain level of sadness.”

Roach continued, “I lost something that was so important to me and so much of me for so many years that it felt like a part of me died. So, I experienced guilt, sadness, and some days of dark depression.”

As someone who spends a lot of time pampering her clients, Roach notes that she’s trying to adjust to a lifestyle without her clients in the picture. The architect of the image also admitted not knowing what makes him happy but will figure out how to do it.

In his confession, he said, “First of all, I don’t know what makes me happy, and I don’t know how to take care of myself yet. So I’m learning, and I’m excited to learn. I’m excited to make myself a priority.” Roach included that this was the first time she prioritized self-care, which was new to her. Therefore, he is now focused on learning and growing.

He ended his talk with a promise that he would be fine. He declared, “And hopefully, in the end, I will be a better person, mentally healthier and happier. Every day has been different for me since the announcement.”

Roach’s admission comes days after he shut down rumors of coming out of retirement to style rapper Megan Thee Stallion for the CMT awards. As The Blast covered, the stylist cleared up such speculation with a receipt showing that the rapper’s outfit was planned before he announced his retirement.

Roach uploaded an email from the brand dating back to January. Alongside the email, he stated that he had gotten a dress for the “Body” rapper to wear to the Grammys. However, the rapper did not attend the Grammys; So she wore that dress to the CMT awards.

The speculation began after a sultry photo of Megan rocking an outfit curated by Roach hit the internet. The 28-year-old looked stunning in a body-hugging dress with a cut-out at the hips.

Internet users took to spilling the beans that the stylist’s retirement was untrue, and some said it was a stunt. One Twitter user said, “Law Roach announcing his retirement looks like the best decision ever. I see him getting so many PR and brand opportunities now.”

‘Legendary’ Judge Says His Retirement Is ‘Self-Care’

Shortly after the style genius announced his decision to quit celebrity styling in early March, he explained his reasons. According to Roach, the decision was a form of “self-care.” He insists that he has put his clients before himself for so long and needs to relieve such pressure.

As for why she prioritizes the well-being of her clients, the stylist shares the existential trauma from her childhood that led her to do so. He said, “If you’ve never experienced being a kid and going to bed hungry, you won’t understand why I work the way I work.”

He added, “I still wake up every morning with this gut-wrenching feeling that this could be over, and I could go back to where I came from. And where I came from there was nothing, you know?”

Having such experience, stylists work harder than others. And even though the experience was years ago, Roach said the feeling of sadness never went away.

Although she is no longer styling Hollywood favorites, the seasoned designer will still be in the fashion industry, doing other things. She told of her plans to walk the runway and share her fashion knowledge with others.
