James entered Saturday night’s game against the Denver Nuggets knowing he was just nine points away from this milestone. He scored his massive 40,000th point in the second quarter to a standing ovation.
Fans took to the comments section of NBA Instagram posts to share their thoughts.
“So happy for him. Sincerely 🐐,” wrote one. Another added, “We’ll never get a chance in our lives to see anyone beat the Le40k.”

After the match, James spoke to the media about seeing his daughter Zhuri’s excitement over her achievement and how “special” it was to her.
“When I looked up in the seat and saw him sitting there and when the 40,000 point mark hit, definitely looked up at my wife, saw my daughter, my mom, and my daughter was just clapping and pumping her arms. into the air so that was a really cool moment,” he said.
“Blow him a kiss, he blows one back at me. It’s very cool for sure. He is the best. Of course the girl’s father and happy she is part of the family. He runs everything. What Z said definitely happens in our household.”
