LeBron James is giving back to the community in his hometown of Akron, Ohio, in a unique way.
This week, the NBA star opened a Starbucks, in House Three Thirty, which has many interesting features such as a bank, bar, wine room, social room and a “LeBron museum” that includes a replica of the apartment he lived in before. make it to the NBA, and more.
While all of that sounds pretty unique, there is another unique feature for employees to enjoy. The 46 workers were not only paid an hourly wage but also earned an on-the-job training certificate for the hospitality industry.

House Three Thirty, which is the area code for Akron, opened on, ironically, March 30.
follow The Athletic, in the basement is a wine room designed by James and his longtime business partner, Maverick Carter. There is also a bar and social room donated by James’ financial advisor and the tequila company he works with, as well as a sports bar and grill, a museum that includes a replica of Spring Hill Apartment 602, where James lived with his mother Gloria for many years before being drafted in 2003 by Cavaliers.
The workers are getting an entirely new type of job training where instead of going to community college or vocational school, they are making a salary and getting their certificate at the same time while learning hands-on.
Although only Starbucks and a bank are currently open, by the end of 2024, House Three Thirty will also include an ice cream shop, a clothing store, a taco shop and will have event space.
All employees will be cross-trained in each business housed at Rumah Tiga Puluh. From working in coffee shops, taco shops, sports bars and event planning for the venue, workers will be paid an hourly wage plus training credits.

The vision for House Three Thirty includes providing work experience and on-the-job training for the community.
“The vision for House Three Thirty is to meet our family’s need for more work experience and hands-on work training. That covers every aspect of the expansive space, including this unique Starbucks location,” Michele Campbell, executive director of the LeBron James Family Foundation said in a written statement, according to Black Enterprise.
“We are very grateful to Starbucks for trusting us to help rewrite the playbook on what job training looks like and how we can employ people for their future. What you can expect from this location is attentive and willing team members, ‘be the best’ service, a friendly and welcoming environment and a community model that we believe can change the world.”
House Three Thirty is within walking distance of I Promise School.
