Leonardo DiCaprio appeared in court today to speak on behalf of his friend Pras Michel in a financial deal gone dark.
Leo DiCaprio Is Only The First

DiCaprio is the first of many stars said to have taken the stand either in person or via zoom in response to Michel and Jho Low, a Malaysian businessman accused of working with Michel and stealing billions of dollars from Malaysia’s sovereign wealth fund, 1MDB.
Michel has maintained his innocence, and Low is at LAM. No one has been able to find him, so so far, Michel is in the loop. That’s why he needs to carry a big gun. About the accusation? Low is accused of giving Michel more than $100 million to influence then-President Donald Trump and other government officials to drop an investigation into him in the US.
DiCaprio was also linked to the case through his business relationship with Low. The Malaysian businessman helped finance the successful film The Wolf of Wallstreet in which DiCaprio starred.
He’s also the man who gave DiCaprio Marlon Brando the Academy Award for Best Actor for 1954 At the Water’s Edge. It was all cute and fun back then, but fast forward to today, and this guy is on the run.

DiCaprio briefly took the stand and proved his friendship with Michel. There was even a hint of silliness when prosecutor Nicole Lockhart asked DiCaprio: “At the risk of asking a stupid question, what do you do for a living?”
DiCaprio used his time on the stand to not only portray Michel as the good guy he’s known since the ’90s but to tell jurors that Low, the man on the street, likes to throw “fancy parties.” in the whole world maybe just where he happened to be on vacation at the time.
follow CNN, Dicaprio was in the stands for about an hour. He testified that he stopped talking to Low around 2015 when he was told that the businessman was accused of embezzlement.
Low and his associates have given DiCaprio another unusual gift, a stunning Picasso painting that we assume he returned in 2017 when he gave back the Oscar. Interesting fact: the same Oscar is now in a federal warehouse in Texas.
Jho Low Wanted In The Film Biz

This is not a certain fact, but the businessman’s money is wrapped in many dramas, mostly in movies. He allegedly had financial ties to Red Granite Pictures, the production company for The Wolf of Wallstreet.
Prosecutors are also trying to understand what other films Low may have financed through Red Granite Pictures. DiCaprio felt taken for a ride by Low because he understood her to be “some kind of prodigy in the business world and very successful.”

DiCaprio also testified that Low told him “he and the gang would make important contributions to the Democratic Party.” He quoted Low as saying $20 or $30 million. “I said, ‘wow, that’s a lot of money.’”
DiCaprio also shared that he and his team are working with US prosecutors to return the funds he or his charity received from 1MDB and Low.
