Messi’s best friend and former team-mate, Sergio Aguero, admitted that he got really drunk following their big W.
Unfortunately, the former Argentina striker was unable to participate in this year’s World Cup due to a heart condition, which will see him retire in December 2021.
Despite not being able to play, he took part in the festivities and partied so hard that Messi finally got mad at him.
Messi Was Tasked With Drunk Duty While Sergio Was Beaten!
In an interview with Tyc SportsAguero explained that he sipped champagne straight from the bottle and ignored Messi’s advice to slow down the party.
“I drink a lot but I don’t eat. We are world champions. If something happens to me, let it be,” he said. “Leo [Messi] got angry and told me to ‘stop’. How [do I] stop? We are world champions, very happy.”
He also revealed the near disaster that happened to him during Aguero’s drunken celebration.
The former soccer star lifted Messi onto his shoulders, which almost sent him to the hospital.
This Action Almost Put Aguero In Hospital!
“I lift the best in the world. I moved my shoulder so that he jumped, but they started getting some stitches in my back,” he explained. “At some point I couldn’t take it anymore. I couldn’t turn around. If I turn around, I will end up in the hospital. He realized because I looked at him, we exchanged glances. I said, ‘Well, you’re the world champion, but my back hurts.’ And there he went down.”
Argentina’s celebrations don’t end in Qatar.
The festival lasted for several days in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
“The boys want to take me with them to Argentina,” he said. “They told me to hurry because the plane was about to take off saying ‘Come on, come on. Let’s show the passports, everybody.’”
Aguero was supposed to join his former team-mate, but realized he had some family commitments HIS SON was back at the apartment, and that prevented him from taking part.
“I went with the national team and then I remembered that I had my son in the apartment, I couldn’t leave him lying down. I called Benja and told him I was going there. He was so enthusiastic that I forgot about everything,” admitted Aguero.
Here’s your daily reminder to never drink and parent!
Argentina cruised to victory over France in a fierce penalty shoot-out after a full 90 minutes of play and 30+ minutes of extra time.
This was Messi’s first World Cup win and Argentina’s third World Cup win. The last time they brought home gold was in 1986.
