As some people think, it is really just a hoax. “I want to explain that my brother and I are safe and alive, but I am truly heartbroken, and struggling to find the right words to say. It’s been a very traumatic 24 hours,” he told TMZ after taking down a fake statement announcing his death on Instagram.
“All day yesterday, I was bombarded with heartbreaking phone calls and endless tears from loved ones trying to sort this mess out,” he continued, explaining that his Instagram account had been compromised by a third party and was being used to spread sensational misinformation and rumors. the wind blows over me, so that even my name is wrong.”

Although the statement and many other outlets have referred to her as Claire Hope, Lil Tay revealed that her real name is Tay Tian, and that she shares the same last name as her mother and brother, Jason.
It’s unclear why her brother didn’t take to social media sooner to address the scam, as he was quite active online in the spring of 2021 when he claimed that Lil Tay had been abused by their father.

In 2021, Jason Tian launched a GoFundMe and raised $17,127, just short of his $19,000 goal. Jason began his appeal by writing, “Tay is in desperate need of funds to support his fight against his abusive father, as a result of this situation he has been in a stressful situation.”
“Beginning April 23, 2021, Tay will be on trial in the BC Supreme Court of Canada against his absentee father Chris Hope, who along with his wife Hanee Hope (formerly known as Richanee Alcover), physically and mentally abused him,” he continued. “Chris Hope is fighting to take control of his career and his custody forever.”
He later named a long history of abuse, along with photographs he claimed were evidence of the alleged abuse. He claimed that Lil Tay went silent on social media in 2018 because “his absentee father (Chris Hope) served my mother with a court order demanding control over Tay’s money, career and custody, and as a result, the court ordered my sister to return to Vancouver, Canada.”

“Since then he has stolen millions of dollars from my sister and has taken control of all her funds. He has signed a multi-million dollar deal and taken all of Tay’s money for himself, he has spent millions buying himself and his wife (Hanee Hope) a new mansion, a fast boat, a nice car, spa trips, salons, restaurants luxury, trips to Egypt, Dubai, Mexico, Philippines, Hawaii, UK, Paris, designer clothes and jewelry/watches from head to toe, they lived a lavish lifestyle for the last 3 years from Tay’s money,” he added.
The last update from GoFundMe was on April 29, when Jason said that he wanted to “personally thank” everyone who donated and supported Lil Tay. “Please be aware that Supreme Court cases directly involving minors are not public information, all documents are sealed and will not appear in the registry, the truth will eventually come out,” he wrote. “Chris Hope owes $400,000+ in child support and has stolen millions, I’m only speaking out about this because I’m no longer a minor and now have the right to do so without legally endangering my family.”
It is unclear why he has yet to comment on the recent death hoax.
