New questions revolve around Lil Tay’s death.
The YouTuber became famous a few years ago for his controversial videos. He went silent on social media in 2018 and didn’t post again until 2023, when a statement was posted announcing the death of not only him but his 21-year-old brother.
Many fans have questioned the validity of the statement, and a new statement from her father only raises more questions.
Lil Tay’s Father Gives a Vague Answer When Asked If His Daughter Is Alive Or Dead

When contacted by the New York Post about her death, her father, Chris Hope, would not confirm or deny that his daughter, Claire Hope, had died. When asked about his death, Hope said “I don’t have any comment right now,” before adding, “I can’t give you any comment right now. I’m sorry. I can’t.”
When asked if there was anyone else willing to confirm his death, he replied, “Um, no, not that I’m aware of.” That only raises more questions; however, he immediately ended the phone call, saying, “Sorry, I can’t comment or give you any help. I’ll just let you go.”
A spokesperson for the Vancouver Police Department said “We have not had any reports of either death here,” referring to the deaths of both Tay and her brother, adding another element of mystery to her disappearance.
Former Social Media Manager Questions If Claire Is Really Dead

Henry Tsang, who was the former manager of the 14-year-old Instagram star, also questioned her death. Claire Eileen Qi Hope of Vancouver, Canada, has not posted anything on social media for years, but Tsang could not “confirm or deny” the statement posted to Instagram on Wednesday evening.
“I have communicated with individuals who have a deep understanding of the family situation,” Tsang told The Daily Beast. “Given the complexity of the current situation, I am at a point where I cannot confirm or deny the validity of the statement issued by the family.”
Another anonymous individual, who also claimed to be Lil Tay’s former manager, questioned why the statement was not signed by anyone in his family. “One thing I would question is who posted the statement and why it wasn’t signed by anyone from the family,” an insider told The Sun.

After admitting that they haven’t been in contact with Lil Tay in years, they asked, “Why isn’t it signed, ‘This is Tay’s mom,’ or ‘This is Lil Tay’s dad,’ or from an official representative? Why is there no attachment?”
“To me, that’s a very clear sign. It doesn’t make sense. Even when you have a death, there’s a group of people who come together to make a statement, usually family, and we don’t see that here,” they added.
The source later said that they “just have so many questions,” adding, “My condolences and I’m surprised by the news. But I want to know who the statement was issued with.” They also questioned why it was not signed.

“It is with a heavy heart that we share the sad news of the sudden and tragic passing of our beloved Claire. We have no words to express the unbearable loss and indescribable pain,” read a statement on Instagram. “This result was completely unexpected, and has taken us all by surprise.”
“His brother’s passing adds an unimaginable depth to our grief,” they continued. “In this time of great sadness, we ask for privacy as we grieve this tremendous loss, as the circumstances surrounding the deaths of Claire and her brother remain under investigation.”
They concluded their statement, writing, “Claire will remain in our hearts forever, her absence leaving an irreplaceable void that will be felt by all who knew and loved her.”

Fans have been concerned about Lil Tay since his brother, Jason Tian, launched a GoFundMe in 2021, claiming that Lil Tay was a victim of abuse.
In the petition, Jason wrote, “Beginning April 23, 2021, Tay will be on trial in the BC Supreme Court of Canada against his absentee father Chris Hope, who along with his wife Hanee Hope (formerly known as Richanee Alcover), have physically and mentally abused him. Chris Hope is fighting for permanent control of his career and custody of it.”
