Lina Mukherjee has loved Bollywood movies since she was 12 years old and when Shah Rukh Khan visited Jakarta in 2012, she sold her mobile phone to go to Khan’s concert. He met Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukerji there and decided to visit India to meet other Bollywood celebrities.

Controversy
Imprisoned for Blasphemy
In 2023, while on a trip to Bali, he posted a video on social media in which he was seen reciting a Muslim prayer ending with the words Bismillah and eating pork (which is forbidden in Islam) after prayer. The video went viral following which he was slammed by several people.
The Indonesian Ulama Council described his actions as slander following a police complaint filed against him. On September 19, 2023, the Chairman of the Panel of Judges, Roni Sianatra, at the Palembang district court on Sumatra Island sentenced Lina to 2 years in prison and also imposed a fine of IDR 250 Million ($16,245) on her. He was convicted under Law No. 11 of 2008 related to Information and Electronic Transactions and Article 45 paragraph (2) of Law No. 19 of 2016. He was seen crying many times in court and said that he apologized for his actions and did not expect such a heavy punishment.
