For the first time since his life-threatening snow plowing accident, Marvel actor Jeremy Renner sat down with Diane Sawyer and talked about the accident.

Renner was hospitalized in early January for blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries following an accident involving a Sno-Cat while he was trying to rescue his niece. The Snow-Cat, which weighs at least 14,330 pounds, hit him and crushed him, leaving him fighting for his life.

Three months after his snow plowing accident, Jeremy Renner is sitting down with Diane Sawyer for his first television interview. The ABC News special, titled “Jeremy Renner: The Diane Sawyer Interview – A Story of Terror, Survival and Triumph,” will air tomorrow, April 6.

In the promo, viewers hear a chilling 911 call being made. “Someone’s been hit by a Snow-Cat, quick!”

When asked what happened by the 911 dispatcher, the caller was heard saying, “I don’t know! Someone is in front of my house on the ground. He was hit by a Snow-Cat — he was crushed sending paramedics, an ambulance…”

Later in the promo, the 911 caller is heard saying, “Listen to me, I need… you might want to get the flight of a lifetime over here right away,” before adding, “He’s in rough shape.”

In a promo for the upcoming ABC special, viewers see Jeremy Renner sitting in a wheelchair as he prepares to speak in his first televised interview since the accident. We hear Sawyer ask Renner how much pain he remembers, to which the “Hawkeye” actor replies, “Everything.”

“I’m awake every second,” she added, holding back tears.

Renner, according to Sawyer in the interview, suffered “eight broken ribs in 14 places. Right knee, broken right ankle, broken left tibia, broken left ankle, broken right clavicle, broken right shoulder. Face, eye socket, jaw, broken lower jaw. Collapsed lungs. Pierced through the ribs, your heart — that sounds scary.”

After learning about the injuries he suffered as a result of the accident, Renner recalled thinking “What does my body look like? Am I just going to be the backbone and the brain, like a science experiment?”

The Marvel actor was in critical condition at the hospital, leaving him to write a goodbye note to his family, thinking he might not make it.

“I heard that you’ve, in sign language, you’ve said to your family, ‘I’m sorry.'” Sawyer said in the promo, to which Renner said, “I chose to survive. That’s not going to kill me, no way, ” he said. “I have lost a lot of flesh and bones in this experience, but I have been replenished and replenished with love and titanium.”

Sawyer then asked the actor, “When you look in the mirror, do you see a new face?” to which Renner replied, “No, I see a lucky guy.”
