Lizzo’s Ex Dancers Renew Commitment To Ongoing Lawsuit

Lizzo’s former dancer has confirmed that they are keeping up the pace of their legal battle.

These talented individuals, once responsible for setting the stage with their moves, have now directed their energies into the courtroom. Undeterred and determined, they are unwavering in their commitment to continue the ongoing lawsuit against their former employers.

Ex-Dancer Lizzo Refuses to Back Down

Just seven days after starting legal action against the 35-year-old, the superstar’s former backup dancers — Crystal Williams, Arianna Davis, and Noelle Rodriguez — are stepping up their claims.

According to the complaint, when the dancers banded together in search of a holdover — because they were allegedly unable to pursue other work during the tour — a member of the management team chastised them for what was deemed “unacceptable and disrespectful behavior,” leading to potential termination.

Currently, all three dancers are standing firm, asserting the validity of their claims filed by the court: Williams and Davis argue wrongful termination, while Rodriguez confirms that he voluntarily left his position in protest of their dismissal. The three of them remained firm, refusing to waver. Speak to PEOPLEWilliams stated:

“We were treated badly. No one did anything about it when we tried to speak up and advocate for ourselves. So now we are doing it. I know that my mind feels clearer. There was a lot of concern and a lot of emotion when our suit was made public. But today, I feel very proud to continue this with these women.”

Rodriguez also told the publication, “All the former Lizzo employees who came forward — we’ve given them the confidence to stand up, and they’ve given us the confidence to continue the fight. What our movement has started is in my eyes… we have won.”

During an interview with the outlet, Davis, who sat next to the other woman but chose not to speak, added to the complaint alleging that she was unfairly targeted because of her weight gain, ultimately leading to her firing in May 2023.

Rodriguez, who was initially recruited for Lizzo’s “Rumors” music video in May 2021 but then joined the dance group for this year’s Special Tour, explained: “They take concern, but a kind of false concern under the guise of, ‘What’s wrong with you? You’re different. ‘” He added:

“I think the important thing that needs to be addressed as far as body shaming and such is that if it’s never been an issue, why was it brought up in the meeting by Lizzo that people were fired for gaining weight? I would never have thought of hearing such a statement from him or as a reason to fire someone.”

Following their appearance on his reality TV show, “Watch Out for the Big Grrrls,” in 2021, Davis and Williams joined forces with the songwriter. In fact, the “Juice” singer previously emphasized the importance of the show in providing representation for plus-size dancers.

This makes the lawsuit a significant setback for the “Truth Hurts” artist, who has proven herself to be a staunch advocate for body positivity since the beginning of her career.

‘Good As Hell’ Artist Faces Fallout When Show Cancels After First Suit

In case you missed the latest developments, Lizzo is currently struggling with the ongoing fallout from the many allegations against her. Adding to the challenge, the “Tempo” singer’s much-anticipated comeback performance after the lawsuit was abruptly canceled.

Billed as the culmination of “Jay Z’s Made In America Festival,” the event is set to take place the first weekend of September on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia.

Lizzo was lined up as a co-headliner alongside singer SZA until the festival organizers announced the show’s cancellation. In a statement, the coordinator wrote:

“Due to severe circumstances beyond production control, the 2023 Made in America festival will no longer take place. These decisions are difficult and are not made lightly nor without deep consideration. Made in America has a legacy of delivering exceptional experiences for music fans and concertgoers, and our commitment to always deliver a top-notch festival experience.”

Although the statement did not specify the exact reason for the sudden cancellation of this year’s festival, the organizers expressed enthusiasm for its return in 2024. Additionally, they assured ticket holders that refunds will be processed for their purchases.
