A decade after the “White Teeth Teen” singer took over the Indie scene with her first single “Royals,” the 26-year-old singer shared a photo of herself in a recording studio!
Lorde’s latest record “Solar Power” was released two years ago but she’s looking back a little further; he commemorated the anniversary of his sophomore record “Melodrama” on his Instagram story. “Solar Power” was produced by Bleachers frontman Jack Antonoff. Fans may find Lorde’s preferred method of communication a bit ‘old school’: she updates her followers through a newsletter called “The Solar Institute.”
The “Secrets From A Girl (Who’s Seen It All)” singer joined “The Solar Institute” on the first anniversary of the LP’s release to share her thoughts and feelings about the experience.
According to our piece on Lorde’s message, she revealed to fans that the year since the release of “Solar Power” has been filled with “the highest highs and the lowest lows I think I’ve ever experienced.”
He went on to discuss his personal calculations with the listener’s perception.
“It took people a while to get around to the album- I still get emails every day from people who just found out about it now!- and the response was really confusing and sometimes painful to sit with at first.”
Lorde continued, “I learned a lot about myself and how I was perceived by making and releasing this album, and I feel more connected and alive in my art practice and life than ever before. Sounds dry, but it’s true!!!”
“Solar Power” is also a form of catharsis for the “Liability” singer. He will also recall how he felt during the recording of the album and compare his feelings with his current perspective.
“I used to sit alone in my hotel room on the day of a show, watching Bake Off, Ambien and Vitamin D by the bed, my skin pale, my stomach knotted with fear. Today, I’m out the door in every city, walking for hours, eating gelato after dark, finding little wine bars, trying on vintage clothes in secret streets, laughing with friends and playing better and better shows for you as a result ,” he continued to write.
