Los Angeles ‘serial killer’ suspected of slaying 3 homeless people in four-day spree: ‘Do not sleep alone tonight’

Three homeless men were fatally shot as they slept on the streets of Los Angeles this week — and police believe a serial killer was behind the deadly brawl.

The unidentified assailant began his rampage on Sunday shortly after 3am, when he killed a 37-year-old man who was sleeping in an alley in the city’s Westmont neighborhood.

The killer struck again nearly 24 hours later, this time targeting a 62-year-old man behind a building.

The third victim, a 52-year-old man, was killed around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, police said.

“The commonality between these murders is that each victim was in an open area, either on the sidewalk or in an alley. They were alone,” LAPD Chief Michel Moore said.

“We believe an individual approached each of them and shot and killed each of them as they slept … There are similarities in each of the three cases.”

Moore called the killing spree a “serial,” but declined to call the suspect a serial killer.

The identity of the suspect remains a mystery — police have only confirmed that he is a “possible male” who acted alone.

He was captured on surveillance footage wearing a hooded top and driving a dark-colored sedan, the LAPD said.

The department established a 24/7 task force and tip line to expedite the arrest of homeless serial killers, and increased patrols in areas where people are known to be sleeping rough.

The city is working to open emergency shelters that are usually relegated to inclement weather to get as many homeless people off the streets as possible

City staff also flooded the streets to encourage homeless people to seek shelter or at least stay in groups until the attackers were caught.

“Our message to the homeless community is clear: don’t sleep alone tonight. Get shelter, get services stay together, get support,” said Mayor Karen Bass.

“It is the individual, not the camp, that is the victim.”

The homeless serial killer scare comes more than 20 months after Gerald Brevard III was accused of stalking and attacking homeless people in the Big Apple and Washington, DC.

Brevard — who is also homeless — allegedly assaulted three separate homeless men as they slept on the streets of a major metro area.

He seriously injured two of his victims and killed one, investigators allege.
