The Louisiana “devil” teenager who brutally grabbed and dragged a 73-year-old grandmother, tearing off her arms and clothes when she got caught in a seat belt and then died, learned his fate on Friday.
John Honore, 18, was sentenced to life in prison for his role in the death of Linda Frickey in 2022 as the woman’s family celebrated that “justice had been served” and hoped the teenager would not be released from prison.
“No regrets, he got what he deserved. He did it,” Frickey’s sister Jinnylynn Griffin told reporters outside court. “We don’t care what happens before March 21, 2022, that’s the day we worry about.
“He’s an idiot, he’s a little punk, and he deserves to go wherever he goes. He was the devil, and God saw the devil that day, and that’s how Linda’s arm was cut off.”
“We get rid of the devil now. And future devils, they better watch out because the DA’s office isn’t playing anymore.”
In March 2022, Frickey was loading his car outside a business in the Mid-City neighborhood of New Orleans when he was abducted by four teenagers, WWL-TV reported at the time.

Honore “jumped in and kicked him out, and he got stuck in the wheel pretty good.”
He was dragged nearly a block down the street before his arm was severed by a utility pole and his clothes were ripped from his body, according to NOLA.com.
The outlet added that Frickey suffered a torn aorta, broken collarbone, ribs and vertebrae.
Frickey lay dead in the middle of the road, naked.
Honore was found guilty by a jury of the murder during a seven-hour trial on November 27, 2023.

Honore called the carjacking “the biggest mistake of my life” in a handwritten apology to the Frickey family obtained by WWL.
“I’m John and I’m very sorry and I apologize that you had to go through what you went through,” Honore said. “No one’s family should have to go through that type of injury. I made the biggest mistake of my life that day. I think about what you and your family may be going through every day.
“I’ve been wanting to write to you all for a long time but I didn’t know what to say, and I still don’t know what to say. I just want you to know from the bottom of my heart that I’m sorry, and I know words might change your feelings but I want you to know that I realize how serious this is and I’m trying because I think I’m doing the right thing.”
Although Honore confessed to the murder, the three girls with him were charged with attempted murder. WGNO-TV The three teenage girls pleaded guilty and were sentenced to 20 years in prison during their November trial. WGNO-TV
Honore could have a chance at parole in 25 years because he was 17, a minor, when he killed Frickey.
He has not been eligible for the death penalty since the US Supreme Court banned the death penalty against minors in 2005.
Frickey’s sister celebrated with her family after Honore’s sentencing, saying she was grateful justice had prevailed.
“We got justice, We felt we did justice for Linda,” added Griffin
During statements from the witness stand, Frickey’s sister-in-law acknowledged there was a chance Honore would be released in 25 years, but hoped he would never get out of prison.
“When you take your last breath, maybe the only thing you hear is the hellhound coming for you, to drag your ass back to where you belong,” Kathy Richard said, according to the outlet.
“Personally, I hope you don’t make it out of there [prison]and the hounds of hell pursue you quickly.”
Honore’s sentence is the last of four involved in Frickey’s death after three girls who were with him during the carjacking accepted plea deals in November.

Briniyah Baker, 17, Lenyra Theophile, 16, and Mar’qel Curtis have all pleaded guilty to attempted murder charges they face in connection with Frickey’s death.
All of them were sentenced to 20 years in prison and will serve at least 15 in prison.
