‘Love Is Blind’ Jackie Bonds Explains Her ‘Meltdown’ In Mexico

Although Jackie Bonds and Marshall Glaze are currently engaged in season 4’s “Love Is Blind,” even when the cameras stop rolling on episode 8, it looks like Jackie may have skipped her wedding dress to meet Josh Demas, who also expressed interest in her while they were in the pod.

In episode 4, “Playing With Fire,” fans were shocked to see Jackie break down in tears, even though they had enjoyed a playful margarita lunch date earlier in the day. Jackie tells Marshall that she’s worried about her family back home and cries about how she should “go back to s—.” He also mentions that he has “too many people to take care of.”

Although the problem seemed to come out of nowhere and was not addressed on their honeymoon, the 27-year-old dental assistant later explained what happened that caused her to become so depressed.

In a candid conversation with Entertainment Weekly, Jackie revealed that she had to support her family because her father had cancer and her brother was released from prison.

“My father, he is sick,” he explained. “She has cancer, so I have to take care of her when I come home every weekend. I make sure my parents are good, the bills are paid — my dad can’t work anymore. I have a lot of family stuff to take care of. Family always comes first. And also, my brother was released from prison, it’s like I have someone else to take care of.”

“My life is not for someone who can’t support me, and just make sure you understand my life and know that this will always be a part of me,” he added. “That was an emotional moment for me because I didn’t feel, at the time, that Marshall was on the same level and prepared for all the realities that I was experiencing at home.”

For his part, Marshall told the outlet, “That’s very personal to Jackie and it’s not my place to talk about it. I’m glad I was there to help him through it.”

Jackie took a screenshot of the interview and shared it on Instagram along with a photo of her “Love Is Blind” co-star season 4. “Make sure my family is okay before I’m okay,” she wrote in the caption. “My dad at the time was fighting Stage 2 Head and Neck Cancer, had a feeding tube in her stomach, the back of her tongue removed, and had 11 cancerous lymph nodes removed from her neck months before I filmed the show.”

“I come home every weekend to make sure I pay the bills, clean the house, and make sure my mom and dad are healthy,” she continued. “I feel guilty for being happy and enjoying my time in Mexico because my family deserves a break.”

“My mental breakdown in Mexico was all the emotions of being the head of the house, having my family depending on me, and having the weight of my emotions and feelings all collide at once,” she added. “I will always take care of my father, cancer will never take him from me.”

Many of her colleagues showered the post with heart emojis while others questioned why she would take so much time to appear on a reality TV show if she is so needed at home. “Why would you go on that show if your family needs you?” asked a fan.

“I mean that’s all understandable but why would you go on a reality dating show looking for MARRIAGE if you have so much going on at home?” another follower asked. “Exactly! Go and fix your life before you want to be in a relationship. He needs a therapist, he’s emotionally unstable,” another user replied.

In the past few episodes, Jackie has received criticism from fans for the way she treated her fiancé. Although he said that he was depressed because his family wasn’t happy about him appearing on the show in episode 7, by episode 8, the couple had a big fight that left Marshall living in his own place.

Marshall admitted that Jackie had said some hurtful things to him, like telling him that he was “not a man.” Jackie then tells him that he needs to “grow up” and be more “aggressive” with her, which has fans wondering if the two are really together.

Episode 9 of season 4 “Love Is Blind” appears to show Jackie skipping the wedding dress to meet Josh, which may end their relationship. The episode airs Friday, April 9, on Netflix.
