Lovleen Misra is an Indian actress, writer, and storyteller. She is famous for playing the role of “Chhutki” in the Hindi TV serial ‘Hum Log’ (1984) which aired on Doordarshan.

Career
In 1984, he debuted as an actor in the Doordarshan TV series ‘Hum Log’ where he played the role of Chutki. She gained immense popularity with the series and went on to act in many Hindi TV serials.

In an interview, while talking about the theater play ‘Nanhi Ki Nani,’ he said,
Yes, this is my first show in the UAE and I have butterflies. Well, that happens to me before every show. We had a show two years ago in Lahore and it was very well received. It’s great to be able to perform in a place where they understand the language. It was a treat to perform.
He added,
I play the role of Nanhi ki nani, an idler who lives on the fringes of society. He survives whatever mohalla [community] people gave him away and all he had was his pillow — actually a pillow case where he carried his things. No one cares about it. No one knows his name. But he has this contract [attitude] about him. He’s sad yet funny. It is wonderful to present such characters written by writers like Ismat Chugtai and Saadat Hassan Manto.”
He has worked with various Indian directors such as Mani Ratnam, Anurag Kashyap, and Govind Nihalini. Some of the Hindi films in which she acted are ‘Godmother’ (1999), ‘City of Joy’ (1992), and ‘Yuva’ (2004). In 2022, she appeared in the Hindi film ‘Badhaai Do’ starring Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar.

He has conducted various acting workshops with the Mumbai-based theater group ‘Junoon Theatre.’ Besides acting, he has worked as a storyteller in various schools.

- In an interview, she was asked whether she likes acting in TV series or theater plays. He replied,
A large quantity [on TV] kill quality. It seems more marketing strategy than art. It’s all about TRP [television ratings point] which I do not understand. Why is it not a criterion in the outside world? In metro India, more and more people are now watching Pakistani serials because not only do they bring better stories and performances, they don’t stretch in vain. However, it must be said that there are some good stories related to daughters and other social issues, although the percentage is small. So I prefer theater and mostly work with children, writing stories, conducting storytelling sessions and theater workshops with Junoon Theatre.”
He added,
I’ve worked with good filmmakers, although it’s not great work experience. The reason the role was offered to me was because they wanted an actor and not just a face. I had the opportunity to work with Anurag Kashyap, Govind Nihalini and Mani Ratnam. Working with them, you are given a clear picture of what is expected of you and you are there because you deserve the role.”

The fact that I had a baby at 38 had more to do with my late marriage than to extend my career. I was always clear that I wanted children. The doctor warned us about the risk of late pregnancy and we had prepared ourselves for any eventuality. Those nine months were full of fear and trepidation. We work hard on every decision — professional and personal — to make sure everything is just right.”
