‘LPBW’ Star Tori Roloff Is Scared Her Kids Will ‘Be Defined As A Dwarfs’

Tori Roloff is creating awareness of her own after celebrating International Dwarfism Awareness Day this year with her baby on her mind.

The reality star shared a message on social media highlighting the many reasons she worries about her children – sons Jackson Kyle, Josiah Luke and daughter Lilah Ray – growing up. According to Tori, she doesn’t want them to be known as “dwarfs” because that tag can affect how they interact with the world and vice versa.

Fans Moved By Tori Roloff’s Honesty About Her Children’s Future With Midgets

On Wednesday, Tori opened up about her deepest concerns about how being referred to as a dwarf could affect her children’s future. To that end, she posted a single photo of Jackson, Josiah, and their only sister, Lilah, sitting on a brown meadow.

While six-year-old Jackson wore a black T-shirt over jeans, his younger sister wore a white patterned dress with a red hair band, and his younger brother wore a white long-sleeved shirt and black pants. Beginning her caption, their mother warned her two million followers that she was about to make a “very vulnerable change.”

“Dwarfism awareness has always been a very touchy subject for myself. I think I’ve made it my life’s goal to make sure our children don’t grow up to be known as “dwarfs”. Not because it’s offensive, or because I’m afraid of the term, but because I fear our children will be defined by it,” he wrote.

Tori shared that she “sees children (not just those with dwarfism) defined- by parents and peers mostly- as diagnoses” and even children in her classroom “labeled for a certain reason.”

“I have seen other parents obsess over their child’s disability. And I think that’s what scares me the most,” the “Little People, Big World” star continued before stating that it was a “personal conviction” that she didn’t “want to be known about”.

After explaining how parents’ fears about their child’s future can lead to the diagnosis becoming the child’s identity, the teacher adds:

“Our children will one day realize they are different and that is impossible for me to change (and I don’t want to) so I want to do everything I can to make sure they know they are “Jackson” “Lilah” and “Josiah” and not less.”

Continuing the caption in the comments, Tori revealed that she wanted to “be a light to mothers especially those going through the same experience” as her. He then concluded:

“I want to help ease the anxiety of this diagnosis and remind all parents that dwarfism does NOT define you or your child. God chose you for your child. God chose you for the world. God chose you. Happy dwarfism awareness day!”

Despite the length, the emotion behind the 32-year-old’s words touched many hearts and they expressed their thoughts in the comments. A medical professional commented:

“I always admire that you don’t define your kids by their diagnosis! As a pediatric nurse, I’ve seen too many kids told they can’t do something because they have *xyz*. Your kids are so lucky to have you!”

Besides being open about dwarfism, Tori doesn’t hold back when it comes to facing the challenges of raising three young children while being a public figure. In fact, earlier this year, he used Instagram to address the issue, stating with this statement:

“Being a mother can be very chaotic sometimes. Today was a very heavy day. It was emotionally draining, and I found myself overstimulated by everything.”

The mother of three reflected on the challenges of raising her baby “in a world that has so much brokenness,” expressing her desire for Jackson, Josiah, and Lilah to be a source of light. However, he admits that it is not always the children’s responsibility to bear such a burden, as they need time to just be children.

Amidst the challenges, Tori remains convinced that she and other mothers are destined for times like these, drawing inspiration from the Bible verse “Esther 4:14.” She also used her heartfelt words to remind fellow moms that “Being a mom is messy! But you’re not alone, and we’re doing our best work! Keep it up, mama! ?.”
