It’s all about the Benjamins for Ludacris and his on-screen family!
The rapper-turned-screen star has addressed the ongoing pleas from moviegoers fed up with the “Fast & Furious” franchise following the release of the tenth installment in the flagship series, “Fast X.” He revealed that there is a completely common reason the project has survived this long and won’t be backing down anytime soon, and that is money.
Ludacris Has Credited Big Profits From ‘Fast & Furious’ Movies For His Continued Production
Since the inception of the franchise in 2001, the “Fast & Furious” series has become an action genre for movie fans. However, the plot of the series has become increasingly bizarre, prompting fans and critics to question its absurdity and call for its end.
Now, one of the franchise’s main characters, Ludacris — real name Christopher Brian Bridges — has shared why they won’t give in to the crowd’s cries. During an appearance on Showtime’s “All The Smoke” podcast, the rapper declared that the films, which include ten in the regular series and one 2017 spinoff, have earned “billions of dollars” over two decades.
Speaking to hosts Stephen Jackson and Matt Barnes, the “End of the Road” star said, “I hear people say all the time, ‘Why do you guys keep making this movie?'” That’s the dumbest king question in the world; I would tell you why. Because no matter what industry we’re in — podcasts, music, movies — it’s all about what matters most.”
The “Blueberry Yum Yum” rapper noted that it’s about the amount spent versus the amount made, adding dramatically, “We make billions of king dollars.” After saying that he was “not trying to brag,” Luda – as fans call him – went on to explain:
“When some of you keep saying, “Why do you keep making this movie?” Let me tell you why. Because if you spend 200 million and you make a billion, who are you going to tell to stop shooting a movie when you make $800 million?”
The “One Minute Man” artist ended by encouraging the audience to “stop asking those god**n questions.” The record producer’s take on the franchise’s profit margins can be seen in the recent success of “Fast X,” which grossed $319 million for its opening weekend.
According to The Blast, that figure surpasses the previous record of $70 million for “F9: The Fast Saga,” which premieres in June 2021. While we wait to see what “Fast X” will ultimately earn, it’s worth noting that the action series culminates in 2015 following the release of “Furious 7,” grossing $1.515 billion worldwide.
Conversely, the franchise’s ratings continued to decline, with its latest installment earning 54% from Rotten Tomatoes critics, while “F9” was rated 59%. Once again, “Furious 7” comes out on top with a relatively high critic score of 81%.
Late Paul Walker’s Only Child Makes His Acting Debut In ‘Fast X’

Following the tragic death of her father, Paul Walker in 2013, Meadow became the latest individual to become part of the “Fast & Furious” family. The beloved actor’s only daughter joins the franchise as a flight attendant who helps Jakob Toretto and “little B” escape a plane in ‘Fast X.’
With that development, three of the series’ most important leads — Vin Diesel, Jordana Brewster, and Michelle Rodriguez — have more than enough to talk about during Charlize Theron’s 2023 Africa Outreach Project [CTAOP] Block Party. Speaking passionately about seeing the 24-year-old on set, Diesel stated:
“It does something to my soul to see him want to honor his father and contribute in his way to his life’s work…It means everything.”
While talking about the model’s talent, Brewster claimed Meadow is now “woven into the fabric forever.” The 43-year-old went on to insist that it was “inspiring” to see Paul’s daughter working “off her butt” on set. Before that, Rodriguez focused on his late friend – who played Brian O’Conner, detailing:
“It is everything to us because [Paul’s] memory never dies in a franchise, so as long as we do, we have to keep it going, [keeping his] life force.”
