On Monday, MGK, as fans call him, took to social media to share a clip of his latest tattoo, a month after he went down to get it.
He started the reel with a shirtless appearance to highlight a Cleveland-themed tattoo before his new tattoo process began.
She explained, “Today marks the day I start my physical transformation. We’ll see what happens,” before she updated viewers after “one session in.”
Viewers are treated to multiple shots of tattoo artist, Roxx, working on MGK’s erasure drawing before she reappears on screen to say:
“We’ve done about seven sessions. It’s been about two weeks since we started. This is the most painful— I’ve ever been in my life.”

Although the process didn’t go smoothly due to the Grammy nominee’s “elbow” at one point, he continued with his ink and even used a “hyperbolic oxygen chamber” to speed up the healing process.
“So…what else should I get now,” MGK asked his 8.9 million followers in the accompanying caption.

Social Media Users Are Displeased With MGK’s Tattoo
That question, however, went unanswered because his fans were more preoccupied with the life events that led him to get the black tattoo in the first place. Taking a comment on an Instagram post, this person asked:
“Why did he do this? I don’t understand why the erasure. I think it looks really bad. He looks really good with a normal tattoo, but can someone explain to me why the erasure?”
A second person shared, “I hope this video will reveal the blackout was an elaborate April Fool’s prank. NO!,” as a third person noted, “I hope you heal from whatever it is you’re going through that made you decide to get this. “

Is MGK’s Tattoo a Sign of His Spiritual Awakening?
In case you missed it, MGK unveiled the blackout painting on February 20th in an Instagram post that has now garnered over 783k likes.
Similar to Monday’s response, initial reactions to the launch featured fans airing their frustrations under the caption “for spiritual purposes only”.
“MGK is known for his various tattoos and also his Cleveland tattoo. To cover all of that and go straight black is wild and weird to me,” wrote one netizen. Another said, “Dudes have gotten so weird. Not a fan anymore smh.”
Despite the negative reviews, MGK used her InstaStories to inform fans that a set of 44 needles were used to administer ink into her skin.
The “Bird Box” actor also revealed that he dedicates four days a week to visiting the tattoo studio for 13 six-hour sessions to achieve the desired results.

Another time MGK made headlines for his body art was in June 2023 when he got a leg tattoo inspired by Nigihayami Kohakunushi, also known as Haku.
The tattoo depicts Haku with a teal and mint green mane, a white scaly body, and claw-like feet. He later updated fans on why he chose to represent the “Spirited Away” character on his body in X, stating:
“I got Haku tattooed on my leg last night for two reasons: she’s a river spirit so her elemental power is mostly water (like my emotions because they’re in Pisces) and I connect with her every time I watch a spirit go, I stick it. description and it reflects the feeling I am in this world.”
