Son of the late Rabindra Nath Mishra, Mahimananda Mishra was born on Thursday, May 7, 1953 (age 69; in 2022). An alumnus of Christ College in Cuttack, he has had leadership skills since his college days. Mishra was the President of the Students’ Union in 1971-72, and he also served as the president of the Students’ Union of MS Law College, Odisha from 1974-75.

Career
After completing his studies from Utkal University, Mishra started his loading and unloading business in 1978 and ran cargo operations at Paradip Port for the next thirty years.
With dedication and hard work, he established OSL Group as one of the largest corporate companies in the entire East Coast of India. A stevedoring and cargo handling company, OSL Group handles over 35 million tonnes of cargo in various sectors.
Controversy
Murder Case Accused
In November 2016, Mishra was convicted of conspiring to kill an executive of Seaways Shipping and Logistics Limited, Mahendra Swain. On October 26, 2016, Mahendra was shot dead while he was on his way to his office in Paradip. Although the Orissa High Court granted him bail in May 2017, the Supreme Court set aside the high court’s order in September 2018 and sent him to judicial custody. In November 2019, the high court finally granted him bail.
Corruption case
On 4 August 2022, CBI officials conducted searches at Mishra’s residence and office in connection with a Rs 25 lakh bribe. Reportedly, the bribe was allegedly paid by the contractor to a senior official of the Paradip Port Authority.

- The Best Business Leader Award, 2010 was presented by the Honorable Chief Minister of Odisha for his outstanding achievements in developing Gopalpur Port into a World Class Port.
