Maine Dem who booted Trump from ballot met with Biden, called Electoral College ‘white supremacy’

The Maine Democrat who moved to unseat former President Donald Trump from the state’s Republican primary visited the White House twice last year — meeting President Joe Biden during one visit — and reportedly once referred to the Electoral College as a “relic of white supremacy.”

Secretary of State Shenna Bellows visited the White House in March and again in June, visitor logs show.

On March 22, she attended a Women’s History Month event and posed for a photo with a smiling Biden, putting his left hand on her shoulder and grasping one of her hands with her right.

She posted it on Instagram a day later, saying “Anniversary trip to DC for the Women’s History Month event at the White House yesterday and a walk today.”

He boasted that it was an “honorary” meeting of Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris and other “women leaders” at the rally in a press release issued by his office.

Bellows also visited the White House on June 6, to meet with Justin Vail, Biden’s special assistant, Fox News reported.

In June 2021, Bellows, a former state Senator in Maine, wrote an op-ed piece for the left-wing platform Democracy Dockets claiming he decided to run for secretary of state because he was “truly afraid for our democracy” after the 2020 presidential election.

He also took advantage of the Electoral College that helped get Trump elected in 2016, claiming “the right to vote for our neighbors is as important as our own, especially when the legacy of white supremacy that is the Electoral College remains in place.”

In his decision to kick Trump off the state ballot, he cited the “rebellion” clause in the 14th Amendment and his actions that led to the Capitol riots on January 6, 2021.

Trump’s advisers plan to legally challenge Maine’s decision and the previous one in Colorado also kicked him off the state’s ballot, but the former president is concerned that some conservative justices on the Supreme Court may rule against him, the New York Times reported.

Meanwhile, the Maine State Police is what’s up investigating a false “swatting” call claiming a man broke into Bellows’ home Friday night.

Bellows posted on Facebook Saturday that he and his family were “safe,” but added his office staff had been dealing with “non-stop threatening communications” since his anti-Trump decision.

“This behavior is unacceptable,” he wrote.
