Maine mass shooting live updates: State police to hold mid-morning press conference

Maine State Police will provide an update on the Lewiston mass shooting at a new conference scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

A gunman killed at least 22 people in separate shootings in Lewiston, Maine, Wednesday night, according to law enforcement sources and reports.

The person of interest behind a mass shooting in Maine is reportedly a trained firearms instructor believed to be in the Army Reserves, according to law enforcement sources in the state.

Robert Card, 40, was stationed outside Saco, Maine and reported “hearing voices” and threatening to shoot up the National Guard Base where he was stationed, the source said.

Card, who is from Bowdoin, Maine, was allegedly considered “armed and dangerous,” and was reportedly committed to a mental health facility over the summer and released after a two-week stay, the source added.
