Husband’s death
Her husband VG Siddhartha went missing on July 29, 2019. He was traveling from Bengaluru to Sakleshpur with his driver. In the middle of the journey, he asked his driver to drive towards Chikmagalur. When they were close to Chikmagalur, he asked his driver to stop near a bridge. He stepped out of the car, and he asked the driver to take the car to the end of the bridge and wait for him until he came towards him after a while.
His driver waited at the end of the bridge for an hour, and when he didn’t return, she called him, but, his phone was switched off. The driver returned to where he had left her and looked for her. When he could not find her, he called Malavika’s eldest son and informed her about it, and then he rushed to the nearby police station and registered an FIR. The police started a search operation on 30 July 2019. On 31 July 2019, at 7:43 am, the police found a body in the Netravati River, which resembled that of VG Siddhartha. His family was called to confirm the body. Malavika was also one of those present for the confirmation.
Once the confirmation and paperwork were done, his remains were taken to his office in Chikmagalur. His body was kept there for people to pay their last respects. Malavika decides that Siddhartha’s funeral will be held at Siddhartha’s father’s coffee plantation in Belur Taluk; because it is the place where Siddhartha decided to become an entrepreneur.
