Mama June Shannon is seeking to dismiss her late daughter’s ex-custody claim, Michael Cardwell, alleging he abused Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell.
Michael, who currently has custody of his biological daughter Kylee, filed for custody of Anna’s daughter Kaitlyn after it was revealed in December that Mama June gained temporary custody of the 11-year-old.

Mama June Shannon recently filed a request to dismiss a custody claim initiated by her late daughter, Michael Cardwell.
In court documents obtained by Online Radar, the reality star claimed that Michael had abused his late daughter, Anna Cardwell, during their relationship.
The legal action comes after Michael obtained custody of Anna’s 11-year-old daughter Kaitlyn, who now lives with Mama June.
Although Michael and Anna share another daughter, 8-year-old Kylee, who lives with her, he is not Kaitlyn’s biological father. However, Michael argued against separating the sisters after Anna’s death, claiming he financially supported and raised Kaitlyn.

Mama June claims that Michael “often physically abused Anna and the child, and it would not be in the child’s best interest to be in [Michael’s] care and control.”
However, Michael’s lawyer, Donald Lewis Roberts, denied the allegations, stating, “Michael denies these allegations. This is the first time any of these allegations have been made against him. He and Anna had a good relationship when they were married and only separated due to differences in opinion and personalities.”
He added, “They managed to get along well through the divorce as well and have maintained a good relationship with his family and him. They have always come together for their children, and we will see what evidence Ms. Shannon has for this type of claim, this very serious claim, to be made against someone — if she has any evidence at all.”
Mama June Granted Temporary Custody of Kaitlyn

Prior to Michael’s custody filing, Mama June obtained temporary custody of her 11-year-old granddaughter through an emergency petition filed in a Georgia court.
In the filing, the “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” reality star indicated the child’s father was “unknown.” He emphasized that “the child does not have a legal father.”
“Recently, about a month before her death, the mother and son started living together [June],” the paper states, per Radar.
Additionally, he noted that Anna’s widower, Eldridge Toney, “became the only father figure to the child for several months after [Michael] and Anna separated in 2017.”
Mama June also stated that she was not aware of “any interested parties other than herself who would stand to gain custody of the child.” Although the court granted temporary custody, a hearing is scheduled to decide whether to make the order permanent.
Michael Cardwell Claims Anna Has A ‘Matching’ Relationship With Her Mother
In her filing, Mama June requested that Michael’s custody petition be dismissed, arguing that Kylee often chose not to visit Michael unless accompanied by Kaitlyn.
The “Mama June: From Not to Hot” star claims that Kaitlyn’s visits with Michael are “infrequent.” “When [Michael] living in Alabama, he only visits with Kaitlyn at most once a month, sometimes going three months between visits,” the filing revealed.
On the other hand, Michael insisted that Anna had a “very dirty” relationship with Mama June and often went through periods of tension. He claimed June’s presence in his grandson’s life was “inconsistent.”
However, Mama June denied the allegations and argued that her relationship with her late daughter was stable “apart from a brief period of disagreement.”
She highlighted her consistent presence in Kaitlyn’s life, adding, “Kaitlyn has spent her childhood regularly seeing and spending time with [June]. Vice versa, [Michael] has been an inconsistent presence in the child’s life since at least 2017,” characterized by “sporadic contact” with the child.
Regarding Michael’s demand to pay for Kaitlyn’s education, Mama June insisted that he “paid tuition for the child at Happy Hollow for about two and a half years in exchange for not paying child support for his other child.”
