Mamadou Ndiaye is a professional Senegalese basketball player who most recently played for the Correcaminous Mexican Basketball League UAT Victoria. Mamadou, a former UC Irvine Anteater, entered the 2016 NBA draft after his junior college season but went undrafted. Nevertheless, he began his professional career the following year by signing a contract with the Golden State Warriors. He didn’t stay long, however, and instead tried his luck with the Detroit Pistons and Grand Rapid Drives of the NBA Development League. Mamadou’s Childhood and Family
Mamadou Ndiaye was born on September 14, 1993, in Dakar, Senegal, to M’bad and Seynabou Ndiaye. His parents also gave birth to his younger brother, Adam. Mamadou’s passion for sports was evident from his childhood in Senegal, although he preferred soccer to hoops. However, following a growth spurt in his teenage years, he became quite tall and started playing basketball more often. He came to the United States in 2010 when UC Irvine Anteaters assistant coach Amadou Koundol found him and offered him a contract while playing with youth players in Dakar.
After that, he enrolled at Stoneridge Prep School in Simi Valley, California, where he played games and prepared to learn English since he only spoke French at the time. Ndiaye then enrolled at Brethren Christian High School, where he played varsity basketball under head coach Jon Bahnsen.
