An Indiana college student is accused of bashing his girlfriend’s bunny skull before warning her, “you’re next.”
Johnathan Quatroche, 20, was arrested at the woman’s Muncie apartment Saturday after she came out of the bathroom to find her pet missing, according to Law & Crime, which cited the affidavit.
“When [the victim] become frustrated with [Quatroche] about the rabbit’s death, [he] stating that he killed the rabbit on purpose. [The victim] tell me that [he] saying ‘he has to go, and you’re next,’” the official reportedly wrote.
The “very upset” woman told her parents, who called the police.
Officers found the pet’s body in a trash can outside the apartment complex.
Johnathan Quatroche is charged with one count of animal cruelty and one count of intimidation.
“The rabbit’s head was crushed and bleeding,” police wrote in the affidavit.
Quatroche, who is a student at Ball State University, will not speak to investigators and has reportedly been released from jail after posting a $10,000 bond in connection with one charge of animal cruelty and one count of intimidation.
The victim, who told police she was Quatroche’s girlfriend, said he had “hit her with bruises” in the past.
