A Philadelphia man died when he was pushed onto a subway track and onto the train tracks from the front during a fight with another man Thursday night.
The death happened a few blocks away from the University of Pennsylvania at the SEPTA 34th Street station in University City around 4:30 p.m., officials told NBC 10.
Disturbing footage captures the moment the two men argue just steps from the edge of the platform as a train is heard approaching the station.
A man in a dark coat and black hat landed two punches on the victim, causing the victim to fall onto the track.
Horrified onlookers screamed as the Market-Frankford line train pulled into the station moments later with the man on the tracks.
The two men were seen arguing near the edge of the subway platform as a train could be heard pulling into the station. Moments later, things turned violent, with one of the men punching the other twice.
Medical officials confirmed that the man died at the scene.
“Oh my God, I feel so horrible,” a woman screamed in the video before police appeared to frantically clear the scene.
Police confirmed they were reviewing the video as part of their investigation.
The man was hit in the face and was seen falling backwards. The man was seen falling on the track after being punched.
The victim has not yet been identified.
“We don’t know exactly what happened before that to start this thing, but it’s under investigation at this point,” Philadelphia police Inspector Kpana Massaquoi told NBC10.
A person of interest was later taken into custody at the 40th Street Station, Massaquoi said.
Moments after the man fell onto the tracks, the train entered the station.
Massaquoi told ABC News Philadelphia the department did not have any witnesses even though the video showed multiple people around when the man was beaten.
Police are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
The killing is being investigated as a homicide, according to ABC News Philadelphia.
