A man was stabbed in the back outside an immigrant reprocessing center on the Lower East Side early Sunday — just the latest violence around the city’s asylum seeker site, police and law enforcement sources said.
The victim, whose last known address was in Queens, was in stable condition and expected to survive, they said.
It’s unclear what sparked the Manhattan violence or whether the man who was stabbed or his assailant was an asylum seeker.
The bloodshed happened around 12:30 a.m., but police didn’t find out until several hours later because afterward, the victim took private transportation around the 105th Precinct station in Queens, where she eventually saw an officer and said she had been stabbed. , sources said.
The man was then rushed by EMS to North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset.
No arrests were made in the attack, which took place outside the former St. Brigid’s on East Seventh Street during the dispute, police said.
