Taylor began her music career at the age of fifteen with Orenda Fink in the band Little Red Rocket. Who Did You Pay (1997) and It’s in the Sound (2000) were the group’s two Geffen releases. The band broke up amid the merger of Geffen Records and Universal Music Group. Taylor later moved to Athens, Georgia, with her musical partner, Fink. They set up the Azure Ray group there.

WARM signed the duo, and they released their self-titled debut as well as their second album, Burn and Shiver. Bright Eyes vocalist Conor Oberst took the band on tour and recommended them to Saddle Creek after meeting them in Athens. Saddle Creek followed up with EP November and Tahan Cinta. Taylor and Fink went on hiatus for 6 years after the release of Hold on Love, during which time they released separate albums. On May 24, 2005, Saddle Creek Records released his first solo album 11:11.

Taylor has also worked with Bright Eyes, Joshua Radin, Moby, Crooked Fingers, Whispertown, Abra Moore, and Nik Freitas. His music is often included in major TV programs and films. Azure Ray’s song “Sleep” was included in the Academy Award-nominated film The Devil Wears Prada, released in 2006.
