Mark Zuckerberg Undergoes Major Surgery Amid Training For MMA Match

Tech billionaire Mark Zuckerberg tore his ACL sparring as he trained for an MMA fight next year — but it looks like the fight won’t be happening anytime soon.

The CEO of Facebook has recently taken the hobby more seriously, although a fight with Elon Musk has reportedly been called off.

Mark Zuckerberg suffered an ACL tear while competing to train for a “competitive MMA fight early next year” — now that fight has been postponed.

The Facebook CEO shared a photo from his hospital bed after surgery, explaining why he got involved in acting.

“Torn my ACL sparring and just came out of surgery to replace it,” he wrote, adding, “Grateful for the doctors and team that took care of me. I’m training for a competitive MMA contest early next year, but right now it’s on hold a bit. Still can’t wait to do it after I recover. Thanks to everyone for the love and support.”

Zuckerberg first took up training in jiu-jitsu during the shutdown of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Now, the Facebook CEO trains in jiu-jitsu and MMA three to four times a week.

When talking about fighting, Zuckerberg told Forbes, “When you’re in a competition, you’re not fighting other people, you’re fighting yourself, right? You’re just trying to be a better version of yourself.”

“The thing that determines your destiny is not your competitors. That’s how you execute,” he added.

His torn ACL comes just weeks after Zuckerberg suffered two black eyes after competing in the gym.

“Sparring got a little out of control. Might need to update my avatar ?,” the Facebook CEO captioned the post at the time. Mark Zuckerberg was fine with the injury, however, as he stated, “Getting hit in the face doesn’t hurt that much. It just damages the brain.”

The much-anticipated fight between CEO Meta (Zuckerberg) and X (Elon Musk) may never happen as Zuckerberg recently took to his new social media platform, Threads, to share that Musk doesn’t take him seriously. “I think we can all agree Elon is not serious, and it’s time to move on,” he wrote before adding, “I’m offering an actual date. Dana White offered to make this a legitimate contest for charity. Elon wouldn’t confirm a date, then said he needed surgery, and now asked to do practice rounds in my backyard.”

He then stated that if the 52-year-old CEO X became more serious about the event that “he knows how to contact me.”

“If not, time to move on. I will focus on competing with people who take the sport seriously,” he added.
