Nine-time Grammy Award-winning musician and actress Mary J. Blige struggled with her self-esteem at one point in her career. However, Blige is now in a better place and revealed how she got to where she is in a recent interview.
Amidst his achievements, the star stated that he would be more successful than he is now if he believed in himself enough. The Emmy award winner and two-time Oscar nominee also credits himself for the effort he has put in to succeed.

The “Power Book II: Ghost” star, who earned five Grammy nominations this year, opened up to Many people magazine about some of the issues he faced earlier in his career. To build her self-esteem, Blige began saying encouraging things to herself in the mirror every morning.
Sometimes, the star would say, “Good morning, beautiful,” which inspired the name of her latest album. Blige also remembers doing the mirror routine even in a sleepy state. “Sometimes my eyes are closed, but I can hardly see myself.”
She states that she deserves love whether she looks pretty enough or doesn’t get an award nomination. “I do it in my prayer time. No makeup, no nominations for awards. Just me and God”. Although he only started the routine to encourage himself, the 52-year-old got used to it and continued it for a long time.

In his interview with Many people, Blige stated that she was proud of her progress because she did not believe that she would follow the mirror routine. “Beauty is being able to say, ‘I value my life.’ To look in the mirror, my eyes half closed, and say something to myself that I never believed.”
He added, “It’s not about his arrogance, it’s about how we are strengthened. no one can love me like me. No one can.” The star, who has released 15 albums in his four-decade music career, will return for the third season of the Starz show “Power Book II: Ghost” in February.
He also recently finished touring for the album “Good Morning, Gorgeous”, which was dropped in February of last year. The singer then explained that before it was difficult to accept compliments because he did not love himself. “I can take it all with humility and confidence because I’ve worked hard all my life — really, really hard. But I couldn’t see the good until I really got my head and life together.”

“I don’t care about myself, I don’t love myself. You get what you give yourself.” Even though he didn’t see anyone at the time, he was in a better place than before. The singer intends to make a full recovery and focus on becoming the best version of herself.
