Massive LA pileup injures 12, leaving 5 in ‘at least serious condition’

Twelve people were injured in a five-car crash in Los Angeles Saturday night.

The massive wreck happened at about 9:45 p.m. Saturday outside the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in Exposition Park.

Of the dozen people injured in the collision, only seven were taken to the hospital, Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart told Fox 11.

Five of the victims were in “at least serious condition,” Stewart added.

The crash, which occurred near the intersection of W. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Vermont Avenue, also left two people with non-life threatening injuries.

Two others refused to be taken to hospital, according to the report.

Images obtained by the outlet showed at least five vehicles involved in the accident.

Three cars were seen heading in one direction while the other two were left haphazardly across both directions of traffic.

Pictures also show a large police and fire presence, which closed the busy intersection for several hours.

Authorities directed those leaving the Queen + Adam Lambert concert at BMO Stadium, formerly Banc of California Stadium, to find an alternate route.

Exposition Park is a south Los Angeles neighborhood that is home to a park of the same name that houses a stadium, several museums, the California Science Center and the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

It is unclear what caused the collision.
